What a transformation. You've worked extremely hard Jason and hopefully inspired others when reading this 'to go for it' _________________ ROVER

cheers mate, she's coming along nicely now, but I feel I must say to anyone thinking of doing this in a garden (on a public road).........
passer-by's are a pain! .....I don't seem to get anything done for people keep stopping me and asking about her.
only the other night, me and the wife were admiring the car from the frontroom window, when a couple walking past caught sight of the car..... talk about laugh........he walked into a lamp post and she tripped over the kerb cause they were too busy looking at the car instead of looking where they were walking........a good laugh though all the same

Absolutely amazing stuff, Jason!
Most wouldn't attempt a restoration of this magnitude without doing it under cover, with all of the frills available in a workshop! You have ably demonstrated that it CAN be done!
The Alvis is looking quite beautiful again!

Some of them have no sense. I was 2 pack spraying my 1800, compete with head to toe covering and breathing apparatus, and a passer by ducked under the garage door which was half open, and proceeded to stand there in the mist relating stories of cars he has owned. |

Jason,
That car is simply magnificent!! The conditions that you have had to do the work under are incredible to me. I wish that I could just get stuck in and go for it as you have done. I find that I go for it, boots and all, then loose interest for a while before having another 'maximum effort' !!
I agree with Rick's comments about your neighbours. They must be a pretty decent mob. If I tried that, the lynch squad would arrive and I'd be handed a white feather or something!
Anyway, now that the end of the Alvis restoration must be in sight, I'll guess you'll be flying over to Perth! I'll get some projects ready for you in my workshop.........!!!!!!!
Regards and congratulations - Keith |

thanks for the kind comments everyone.
keith, I lost a bit of interest a couple of weeks ago (I've been working on it 7 days a week for over 6 months).....the wife suggested a weekend off, so I didn't go near for a full weekend, monday morning I was straight back to it.......a break does a world of good
as for the end being in sight, I was taking a look at the sills last night and they're slightly worse than I first thought .....so I'll have my work cut out with them I think.......new ones are £268 +vat each from red triangle, so I'd rather repair them and save some money
once again thanks for the comments, I'll get some more pics uploaded later today.

Hi
Really well done, you must have put some hopurs in, what do you do with the kids when you are working on that?
Also you need some ramps to get in and out of the garden, if that is where it is to be parked.
Cheers and keep the pics/info coming!

when the cars done, we are having the garden turned into a drive and the kerb lowered.
cheers

hi rick,
theres not much room for gates so we've ordered 3 removal/locking bollards and we're thinking a hefty chain locked between them.
we're also having a cctv installed on the house wall pointing at all the garden and the road outside, we can then keep an eye on our other cars aswell.
