We bought this MGB as it looked like it needed retrimming and not much else. The more I looked the worse it got and in the end it was a back to body shell job. I have stripped out the engine bay bits and I am lifting the engine out in the next day or two.
It will need some welding. |

Well the engine is out of the B. I decided to whip the engine out of the Midget as there are few things to be done - unleaded head, new mounts, new clutch, a clean and paint.
So I will get back to the B in a couple of weeks. |

Dave, how did you know that on the end of a bit of wire was a lead lamp? Is this old clairloyant web site?
Ignore the overspray, I will clean it off sometime. Am I getting old or does that look quite sexy |

Celebrations were much too early. The Midget vibrated like a pig and the MOT is due. I tracked down the problem to the new engine mounts - eventually - after stripping the front end of the engine to check the cam timing. I even took a photo.
The engine mounts had started to split and the under cut in the rubber did not look "right".
I could only start the car while it is on jacks as I decided to replace the rear suspension mounts as the MOT is due and I do not think these will go through.
The car should be ready for July 5th when my daughter will drive it to Takeley _________________ 1936 Morris 8 Series 1
