|
|
Anyone there who drives an open four seater soft top vintage car and carries their dogs with them on the back seat?
My labradors travel with me safely in my landrover at the back which has a dog guard preventing them hurling themselves over me if I stop suddenly.
Hoping to get a four seater bullnose Morris in the future and want to be prepared to make sure they are safe.
Hope you can help...Pat |

You can get a short lead that has a normal spring clasp on one end and a seat belt fitting on the other. But you would have to fit the other part of a belt to your old car. _________________ 1964 International Harvester |

I can hear a sharp intake of breath already. The paws on the leather and a dog flying out of the car when it sees a cat etc. OK that could be quite funny. You might find this contact usefull.

and the dog requires a harness not just a collar or choke chain.

Does this apply to children too? Just wondered about the grandchildren.

Thanks for this I am a member of the Bullnose Morris club already and Malcolm has given lots of help .Don't worry I would not risk doing this if I thought there was any danger.
I may have to only try this when the windows are in..

I thought it was illegal to carry unrestrained children in a car. Certainly my Minor does not have belts in the back (I have them, but never got around to fitting them after restoring the car 3 years ago) and they are too young to ride in the front. |

Sorry folks!
As much as I love dogs, (and I do!) the thought of a dog hooking it's claws into my nice new (and very expensive) soft leather upholstery makes me break out in a sweat!

Hi
This is from
Quote: | Seat Belt Requirements. This table summarises the main legal requirements for wearing seat belts in cars, vans and other goods vehicles
|
A child under 3yrs may not travel in a vehicle without seat belts, other than a taxi.
After a child's 3rd birthday they MAY travel in the rear seats of a vehicle not fitted with seatbelts.
They can not travel in the front seat of a vehicle not fitted with seatbelts until after their 12th Birthday.

My springers loved sitting in the E type, top down, but we had no seat belts anyway. I remember pulling up at the lights in Broadway one day and being surrounded by a horde of Japanese tourists snapping away as Sophie (my dog) sat serenely looking at them. I guess they were thinking of their dinner though. |
