I went on to the Veteran Car Association site to look at the video of the London to Brighton rally..They also give access to other videos..including
BARN DANCING ON TRACTORS.

Yes I looked at it ...just a bit of fun.

I'm in the middle of farm country over here. Home of the "Waterloo Boy" and "John Deere Tractor Works".
Over here we have tractor shows, rodeo, pulls, racing, and even tractor square dancing. Very Happy

I know about John Deere tractors as I have a very small friend, a young lad of nine and he is mad about tractors. His regular magazines are Farmer's weekly and one all about Tractors. He has told me all about the John Deere tractors .His aim is to be a tractor driver.
Is there a John Deere Australian website? I'd love to give the young boy some more information. It is refreshing to see one so young knowing exactly what he wants to do.
Pat

Anyway thanks for all the info about the shows you have over in your country. Are Pulls what we call tugs- of -war ??

Tractor pulls here are contests who can pull a weighted sled the furthest.

John Deere main site....

Museum.....

Talking of John Deere have you seen the film 'The Straight Story' about a 73 year old man who wanted to see his 80 year old brother, who had had a stroke, but did not have a driving licence. He drove 300 miles across America on a 1966 John Deere lawn mower towing a trailer at amaximum speed of 5mph!!!! It took him 6 weeks to get there.

I used to like tractors. I don't now. I'm an ex-tractor fan.

Getting Young People Involved in the Steam Hobby

Jerry Swedberg had been thinking about how to get more young people involved in the hobby that has been so dear to his heart for the last 50 years. The skill of building models and displaying them is usually done by older people. As a retired mechanist and teacher he decided to have a model building project for young people ages 11 to 17. They would need no experience - just interest.
