I've got a new workshop which i want to give a bygone feel, particularly 1960's garage

any ideas on paint colours/schemes?

thinking cream or green, a few enamel signs and old odds and sods to give it a rustic feel

I think it would be great to do that especially as you are starting from scratch basically. Creme and green would be fine and a bit of grey. It would be great fun looking for period accessories. They are on ebay but are a bit on the expensive side. You will probably get better bargains when the show season starts and you can rake the autojumbles.Good luck.....Larry.

I could probably help with regard to reproduction Austin vitreous enamel signs. These are as good as the 'originals' but a fraction of the price. Expecting a delivery tomorrow of 'Fit and Forget KLG plugs to your Austin' and 'Castrol XL for your Austin'. If this interests you contact me by e-mail: james'stringer@sky.com.
Cheers.
Jim

The two signs arrived as predicted and the quality has to be seen to be believed. The price works out at £85.00 each with postage (UK) at £7.50
I also have some garage wall thermometers at £75.00 plus £4.50 postage (UK). These feature either the Austin Seven 'Chummy' or the Austin 12/4 'Clifton'.
e-mail me on james.stringer@sky.com and I will send pictures.
Cheers.
Jim.

It would be great kitting out a 60s garage from scratch even down to old style phones and pens and notepads. I will get you the phone number of one of our marina club members who has bought an old British Leyland garage in the Dundee area and a lot of the old stuff is still in it. He plans putting his marina in the showroom window. I will probably see him at our club AGM next week. Will keep you posted.................Larry.
