As we have had a good few hundred members joined lately....have any of you seen any marinas lying about ...possibly for sale. No harm in asking eh!!! Who knows might get lucky.

It's quite interesting the way that a car changes fron country to country. My father bought a brand new Marina in Melbourne, Australia in 1972. They came in two body styles, sedan and coupe. Dad had the coupe. The engines were all overhead camshaft. They were available in 1500cc, 1750cc and 1750cc twin carb. His was a 1750. They later brought out a model called "Big Red" that had a 2250cc six cylinder OHC unit. (I think it was the same engine as that in the 6 cylinder Princess in Britain???)
They were plagued with shock absorber and Lucas alternator problems!

If I do I'll let you know before my dad and his mates in the Teal Owners Club plunder it for it's rear axle (or Top Gear drop a piano on it!). |

No, that's one car I haven't seen lying around for years, sorry. 
Although not the best colour in the world, my mate had a really nice Russet Brown one years ago that I repainted in cellulose, but something broke on it one day, and he put it away in his parents garage and bought something else in the meantime, just to run around in. I asked him a few times when he was going to put it back on the road, and he used to say there wasn't much wrong with it and "ooh, I might do it this weekend, do you fancy giving me a hand" but that weekend never came. Sadly his parents died, and with it being a council house, he had no where for the car to go, so it went for scrap. It was one of the cleanest Marinas around, as he used to polish it constantly.

| Apologies for swinging on your coat tails here but I'm looking for a 60's to early 70's Mini ( as rust free as possible as I've just restored a later one and don't want to go through all that cutting out rust again for a while but have a Mini shaped space in my garage), of 1000cc or above. Its my 40th this year and the Missus says she will put a bit towards the right one if I can find one. If anyone has anything that fits the bill I'm interested.... |
