hi to all from sunny norfolk, i was driving to veiw/buy a safari when my phone rang, it was a gentleman i had spoke to weeks previous regarding buying his carlight, at the time he would not part with it, he was phoning me to say.. "ok you can come buy it" so i detoured and bought it.
i have now started to work on repairing roof panneling above kitchen, in fact i ripped it all out and going to replace all including rooflight, i am toying with the idea of having both sides off just in case theres any hidden nasties behind them, seeing as i intend to re-seal awning rail and runners i thought why not while rails are off just check ? (what do you think) or maybe the old saying " if it aint broke dont fix it) comes to mind. it would be great to hear from anyone with a little advice or experiances they would share with me, and the safari will have to wait till next year,
warm regards,
Stuart

Hi Stu and welcome to OCC. This is Brian from the Safari Group.

My suggestion is that if there is no sign of damp then leave the insides alone. Re seal the joins and rails, on the outside to stop any water getting in.

As it is a Carlight you'll probably find other places with damp. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Carlight`s eat Safari`s for breakfast Exclamation Exclamation Munch Munch. Very Happy

I get so many Carlights offered to me,the 12/14 foot models.not so many of the larger ones.

We could have sold ours hundreds of times,at petrol stations, steam rallies, vintage shows, traffic lights etc,one day we will pull away and it will not be behind us Exclamation Exclamation

I have just picked up a Viking Fibreline (early one) very cheap.

Never liked them in the past, now I think they are Great. Exclamation Exclamation

A good solid van unless it starts to leak around the windows, weak bit of design

They are better built than the Cheltenham, which I also have, these are more flimsy, especially the roofs, the door hinges are a crap design, the doors never line up properly, and the fibreglass finish is poor quality compared to the Viking.

This will stir up some comment, but its TRUE Exclamation

Hi Brian
I have just joined the Classic Caravan Clubman Class Rivalry Association, held an AGM, and voted you in as President.
So you are now officially CCCRAP.

Hi stubear,

You need to be far more 'exact' about the parts you require.

A spare wheel means nothing to most people on here, as unless they've owned the exact same model as yours, there could be many variations. You need to post an exact wheel & tyre size, with the exact stud hole measurements etc.

The same goes for the other parts & some good close up pictures may help, too.

At the end of the day, I've always found that 'Autojumbles' are the best place to find this sort of thing - Newark, for a start!
