Hello all. First post and already wanting something!

I was wondering if anyone has an engine, preferably in good order, for my '37 Morris 8 tourerthat they want to sell. A series E engine would be ok whilst I try and find an engineering firm capable of welding the original.

It's cracked between cylinders 2 and 3 on the block top surface, and the local firms (Norwich) are unable to repair. If anyone knows of a good reliable firm I would be grateful.

Many thanks
Bill

If you can find a series E engine make sure it is not an auxiliary tank engine as the clutch fitting is different - I believe they can be modified. Use the series E gearbox with the E engine. Or try http://www.belcherengineering.com/ they are near Diss.

Hi Bill,

There are a couple of companies advertising in the magazines who do cold metal stitching - Lockstitch did a large number of such repairs to my Dodge's sidevalve engine a couple of years back.

PS any photos of the Morris to hand?? Smile

Many thanks to Rick and Nic for their very quick replies. The block and head are now at Belcher Engineering. How refreshing to speak with 'old school' engineers. Anyway I should have it back sometime next week leaving just an engine rebuild and I can then resume my daily usage after a break of nearly a year following a heart attack.

The old girl is by no means showroom condition I prefer to actively use her rather than polish her. A car is to be used after all.

Photos will follow soon ish once I've mastered windows 7 (3.1.1 was much easier) and then learnt about these modern digital cameras.

Again many thanks

Bill

Well the block is back! And I thought Norfolk weeks were odd, seems Suffolk are worse, 3 weeks not one as originally told, found a crack in the head as well just have to hope it all goes together ok. Knowing my luck as soon as it’s on the road the weather will change.

Will keep you informed.
