I have suffered long enough with my old side lever action grease gun and its time to treat myself to an new one. Taken an fancy to an single handed 'Pistol type' and cartridge fill, so no more grease everywhere. I like the look of Draper products but can you point me in the right direction of an decent quality grease gun please. Budget around 30 pounds or so. |

I have no knowledge of current production grease guns but one thing I find invaluable is to be able to unscrew a nipple and to screw the grease gun directly into the grease inlet. If I don't do this then I generally find that I lose as much grease at the gun / nipple junction as enters the target site.
Perhaps all grease guns do this but when you unscrew the gun nozzle I would want the gun to have the same screw thread as my grease nipples.

The best type of grease gun connector is the chuck type. They seal off pretty well. Unless the user is in the habit of pulling the chuck off the nipple when finished and thus damaging it. The correct way is to "break" the connection by moving (rocking) the grease gun sideways, which will ease it off the nipple and make it last for years.
I like your idea Peter! But there are lots of different grease nipple threads and diameters and I have even met some tapered ones which were just pressed in.
