I'm looking for info and/or pics of 1970s Windsor and Coronet caravans. Both models were built by Royale, or maybe Precision Coachbuilding, gloucester, or possibly in Beverley.
Both models would have a stuck-on version of the Royale wings on the front and rear panels.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Emmerson

Royale also made a budget model called the Fiesta, (quite different to that of the Royale and the Windsor)

I have a review on one of these models in an old caravan magazine, also quite a lot of info regarding Windsor and some for Coronet, including magazine adverts in some old caravan mags

Thanks Brian

You recognise the name then?

Ha Ha!

Maybe it should be Knowsley-Royale these days though!

Good site btw, having been away from the classic caravan scene for quite a number of years - it's good now to see an active forum for like minded nutters......but at the tender age of 40 I was also wondering if there was any members out there younger than myself, a lot of the vans featured on here where rolling along before I was born. I was a 70's baby and only 2 years older than my Royale

Hi Knowlsley(Dave). You obviously know BrianM too: you have my sympathies!
To the matter in hand.
I'd be delighted to see any info you have on Windsors, Coronets and Fiesta.(I didn't know about Fiesta until I spoke to Andrew Jenkinson at Stapleford park last month, and I've been involved with Royales for over twenty years!) My email is emmerson.salkeld@o2.co.uk.
I note that you have a Royale too. Are you Club member? And if not, why not? In spite of what Brian may tell you, we're a very friendly bunch. So friendly, in fact that we even let a S**ari accompany us to France and Belgium on ECCR rallies!

Hi Emmerson

Thanks for the message. Yes I am a member of the Royale Owners Club.

Known Brian for years (hello fella btw.........it was him that prompted me to sign up for this site)

I've got a couple of magazine adverts produced by Royale showing the stable of vans they manufactured; Royale, Windsor, Coronet and the mysterious Fiesta.

Also I have a few magazine reviews including the Coronet and the Fiesta. The Fiesta was only produced for one year.

Cheers mate. Are you the guy who wants to run a Royale event down in Devon next year?

No i'm not, but I was thinking about it!

Shame that most Royale rallies are up North so I was thinking of re-adjusting the balance anyway.......and I'm no stranger to being a rally marshal having ran my first rally for the Knowsley Owners club when I was 14, even though I had to get my father to provide the tug to get the van to the site!

So now I have two of you ganging up on me. It is just as well that I have broad shoulders and can take it!

But I have to point out, David, that this forum has a strict honesty policy that you have breached already with your signature Very Happy

I keep reminding Emmerson that were it not for the Safari Caravan Company, Royales would never have existed.

Safari Caravans probably amongst the best caravans ever made.

But Brian, that is the whole point of my argument: Royale took all the many good points of the Safari.

And then improved them!

And topped off the company name with “Precision” in the title!

Emmerson

I have just sent you the full review of the Fiesta 330 by Caravan Magazine dated July 1977

For the benefit of other members I've just uploaded a picture of one of the adverts as many will be viewing a Fiesta for the first time!

There's another advert with all four of the Royale stablemates together attached in the email to you

Looks nothing like a Royale, Windsor or a Coronet. More of the ugly duckling of the family!

I've also got the first ever test review of a Royale caravan in En-Route magazine back in 1969......in which the reviewer states in his opening phase.....

"The van I didn't want to give back"
