My gearbox has just given up (probably due to running out of oil! oops).
Does anybody out there know of a good place to buy new gearbox parts i.e. synchro hubs (it was already jumping out of 3rd and 4th) baulkrings, bearings etc?
Or is there a gearbox from another car that would fit (longshot)?
Or any gearbox gubbins from another car that would fit in the original box (even longer shot).
Thanks, hope someone can help me soon as i want to get it back on the road ASAP.

Why not post a picture of your box? I have a couple of Unidentified Gearboxes lying around, maybe others have?

when i remember changing my dad`s hawk gearbox it struck me how small the gearbox was for such a beast of a car.because it reminded me of a rootes group transmission! obvious change of the bell housing to match up the standard four cylinder engine but it`s worth a look i suppose.best of luck....

Hi Paul, I'll get a photo ASAP...
Hi Peter, Not had much luck with the Humber club as yet but i'll give the vintage bearings place a go cheers.
Never heard of regrinding the synchro hubs before i'll give it a go...
Ray, i think the problem with the hawk gearbox (common fault of jumping out of gear and wearing quickly) is that they were under rated for the car... when my gearbox was on its way out - sticking in 4th it had little trouble pulling away from standstill in 4th gear! i don't know what other Rootes gearbox would fit, would be good to find out tho.
I'm desperate to get it running ASAP because its driving us to the Rhythm Riot in November... i need a Rock n Roll car for the Rock n Roll weekend |

i can understand that with the amount of torque you could get with the humber four cylinder--i can remember my dad used to go around ninety degree corners in top gear so easily and it would`nt miss a beat!!
