|
|
Hi
Thought I'd just ask if anybody has got any B&B chassis corner steadies sitting in their garage surplus to requirements
I need two for the rear of my Royale where the nut that the brace turns have started to "round" due to over tighten sometime in its past
Another question I have is do they come in different sizes of thread or would any B&B leg fit?

I need to do this to my Tourstar. What I'm hoping is that as I have done in the past with similar chassis, I will be able to identify the means by which the original nuts were attached to the threaded bar. I find that usually they are common-or-garden wheel nuts that are wound on then anchored with weld on the inward-facing face.
If this is the case, I grind away the weld, remove worn nut, wind on new nut with sharp hex, then re-weld. Just a couple of blobs with a stick welder suffices.
Much easier and quicker than replacing the whole assembly, especially if it is welded on. |

In the words of the old Meatloaf song," you took the words right out of my mouth" Alec. Just what I did on our Car Cruiser. Just weld on some new nuts. So that makes 4 nuts on the caravan and two in it LOL ! _________________ I can resist anything except temptation ! ( Oscar Wilde)

Just did this job yesterday on my Royale! It's a bit of a b*gger holding the nut on while you strike, so I ground down the old nut so that I could tap the new one on with a hammer, then a quick tack behind the new nut, then fill the middle for good measure. Ten minutes each, job done. |

Thanks for the feedback guys. It was something I hadn't thought of but will plan for next spring when the weather is dry enough to get under the van without getting a wet bum! _________________ Remember - Practice makes perfect! |
