Thought that some of you might appreciate another restoration...never even got the chance to drive this before it went! The only GM I'll ever admit to! Laughing

There's just something about 40's and 50's Americana that makes me smile, I love the brashness, the use of 'optimistic' colours (at a time when ours were usually grey green or black), and the sheer styling exercises that some of them appear to be.

That's a beauty UJ.

One of my favorite Chevy's! Very Happy

When I was a little runt my aunt had a new '59 convertible, red with red interior and white top plus the continental kit.
Was always a big deal riding in the back with my cousins!
My uncle wrecked it a couple years later and my aunt divorced him! Shocked

Just goes to prove UJ that you can't be all bad! Very Happy

That's a beautiful car, all the right shiney bits and wonderful colour.

I would imagine its a "top Dollar" restoration?

Thank you guys, you've made my day! Very Happy

Hope you've all noticed the details...fuzzy dice, twin aerials and headlight visors! Otherwise, its an original, 'matching numbers' car, apart from the fact that the first thing that the current owner did was fit a tow bar!

UJ

What's the matter with tow bars?

I hope he had a period Airstream to go behind it!

Hi Brian, no, its not an airstream, just some swedish thing from the mid-sixties. Dont even know what it is! Its in nice condition though!

With the rear that this car has, a towbar totally destroys its looks!

Now I know those are seriously expensive items, and two of them for those who don't know are not just doubly expensive, they're that plus a fair chunk more! For a '57 like mine the the left one is $190+, and the right one, which is powered is over $500! Shocked

As I said before this is an expensive restoration.

Rick, I dont exactly know how to answer your question. As always, it was worse than I expected, but at least Chevy parts are easy to come by! If I remember correctly, I used 4 bottles of gas!

Really nice restoration UJ, just right. It looks fresh from the factory but not over-done.

This one is coming back to haunt me - a friend has just called me to say that he has bought it. So it will be out cruising with my 300 in a few weeks.

Bet he ends up putting a 350 in it!
