It's my old A35, stolen from outside the owner's house in Clapham. I'm absolutely gutted as I love this car and I can't stand the thought of it being burnt out somewhere Here's some more pics:

Under the bonnet, pretty standard except for the temperature gauge/1098 head.











Distinguishing features - plenty. This is a very distinctive car and I would recognise it anywhere, as would most of you probably.

The chassis number is AS5-HCS-80889 and the engine number 9-UH-80889.

A30-35 club and AA badges on the grille.

There is a big dent in the rear N/S behind the back door, also the back door has 1/2" of filler in it.

The front panel was damaged in an accident years ago and is made mostly of filler, especially on the N/S.

Reversing lights

Lucas Ranger and Fogranger spotlights on the front.

Tex wingmirrors with long reach stems.

Ribbed gearbox with recent 1098 clutch and flywheel.

WWF sticker in rear N/S quarterlight, A30-35 club stickers 2008-10 in the back window, 'I love my A35' and 'The Hemsby Rock 'n' Roll weekender.

New static seatbelts fitted in the front.

Temperature gauge loose on the dashboard.

About 68,000 miles on the clock.

Big, padded sunvisors - not standard.

Original carpets in the back, nothing in the front.

We are now at the stage where new cars are very difficult to steal, what with their electronic technology which require coded keys to get past the complexity of the immobiliser. The classic car however is a much easier target, often by using a worn key or even a screwdriver to gain access and start the engine.

I think as classic enthusiasts we really need to look towards immobilising our cars when we are not driving them, whether this would be a hidden switch or removing leads, possibly fitting modern electronic gadgetry is up to the individual, but it is something that will have to be looked into seriously before more of these rare cars are lost to the scum who roam our streets

You must be gutted RH, even though it was sold on it must still be like a kick in the N'.
As we all hope, lets hope and pray it will be found intact.
Stolen to order for parts? I hope not.

I, and my Nephew will be fitting a VT400 tracker to the DLM
Even lets you know when the car is moved / tampered with, or even if it leaves a designated area.

OK you can fit immobilises, remove leads, fit hidden cut outs, but I can remember when working for VW doing breakdowns with a trailer and winch, a few times no keys, so dragged up onto the trailer, never once did we ever get challenged.

I'm very upset to be honest. I got very attached to that car, and when I had to sell it, I was so pleased when it went to a new owner who was just as enthusiastic about it as I was.

There have been theories about it being taken for classic banger racing, parts, ringing, export to Ireland etc, but apart from the banger racing, the others I would think would be out of the question due to the tatty condition.

It may have been taken for scrap metal, but it's a very small car so wouldn't yield much, and I'm sure plenty of questions would be asked at any scrapyard.

My guess is it's been taken by joyriders. I just hope it is found quickly and without damage.

I don't like to say but it's all most certain to be in a crusher by now believe me there is at least one scrapyard i know of that i am pretty certain would have no qualms about crushing anything, once the number plates have been removed it would be difficult to check any chassis numbers if the car is a an oblong bale of metal,lets be honest if drain covers from the side of roads, and lead from church roofs, and copper cable from railways disappear there must be yards that know where this stuff comes from but they most probably pay a bit less and no questions asked as far as i am concerned its a certain group of people who do this and i am sure most of you know who they are! a small old tractor and a J/D 3 wheeled professional grass cutter unit went walkie's from a cricket ground about 2 miles from me over xmas again these were not easily sold on so i think crusher! which is where i would have no hesitation in putting these people!!!!!!

One good reason for a tracker system that rings you if the car is tampered with, or moved out of a designated area.

Hasn't been easy to find inexpensive trackers.
Most have been quite expensive, and subscription charges etc. on top.

And it has only been the last few months I have considered one, or been able to afford one.

Classic car weekly sometimes have a bit about stolen classics. They'd be worth contacting, especially as they're a weekly publication.

hope it's found in one piece,but i wouldn't hold out much hope 2or 3 years ago in CCW there was a report of a young woman who had her A35 stolen.didn't hear anything about her getting it back.
