This year's Drive It Day is Sunday 17th April, anyone got special plans to take their oldie out for a spin?

The Cheshire Run, for old lorries, takes place on the 17th and has its half-way stop not far from here, so a few of us will congregate at the old garage opposite the stop for a chinwag all being well.

I will be having a little jaunt with other NERC members and teaming up with Sunderland Classics finishing up at Hartlepool Marina for the classic show there.

Hopefully will be on the Lancashire Automobile Club run, I'm booked in.

http://www.lancsautoclub.com/george.htm

Last year it was chaotic as they didn't use 'Tulip' navigation notes, it became like wacky races, cars passing behind you, then coming the other way, then crossing in front etc. By 2.30 we were still only half way round but had already completed the mileage, (It was only meant to take 2-3 hrs total) so we adjourned for lunch and forgot to restart, because my navigator took her bat home Laughing , but it was fun.

I'm doing the North Norfolk Classic Vehicle Club run from Sheringham to Strumpshaw Steam Museum. Expecting a big turn out ; 100+.

The TR Register boys & girls from all over South Eastern England / East Anglia are heading for the Royal Gunpowder Mills at Waltham Abby.

Let's hope for nice weather anf a fun day of classic motoring for all !

There's two runs starting from the cattle market in Norwich and from Saxmundham in Suffolk running to the East Anglia Transport museum in Lowestoft where they will be running a good selection of their Trams, Trolley buses and buses

I'm taking the Austin A35 out for a spin, but not planning on going to an event. I think I'll take it to the boot sale at Leigh station in the morning, then maybe a run out to Hadleigh Castle a bit later. Haven't really decided yet, but I will be driving it to work for a night shift in the evening.

The A40 is currently out of action with brake issues, so I might take the MG out for a run instead. Might go up to Garstang for the autojumble.

I hoped to do this: http://www.triumphnewforestrun.co.uk/ - bit since I can't drive yet I have to rely on getting a parent to drive my car there - and mum's scared of driving it and dad's not in Sad

But if anybody's driving through Haslemere I'll be standing about waving Smile

In anticipation of Drive-it-Day I thought I ought to give the Jowett a run out on Saturday, just to make sure it still went!! I had a delivery to make so off we trundled. On the way back spotted a coffee morning at the village hall so parked up for a coffee. On returning some guy was looking over the Jowett - conversation went like this:
"Is it yours?" Yes, "What make is it?" Jowett. "Is it British?" Yes. "Where was it made?" Bradford, hence its name! "oh yes I wondered about that!"
I am flying the flag for Yorkshire's Motor industry. Pause and a quick glance around the 50 or so cars in the car park. " Looks to me as though you are flying the flag for the British motor industry" Laughing

No time to join an official run on Sunday, but did about 15 miles on Sunday afternoon just to show willing!
