Hello all,

A close friend of mine is after a Mid-sized, 12-16HP, PRE-WAR saloon in a reasonably solid, useable and presentable condition that he can use and enjoy whilst tinkering with it...

Not so worried about paintwork or chrome - but would like a reasonable interior and good mechanicals...

Ideal vehicle's would be: Austin-14, Standard Flying 14, Wolseley 14/56 etc, etc...

He has up to £4500.00 (or there abouts?) and doesn't expect concourse but does expect something reasonable, presentable and honest...

If you can help, please either send me a private message on here, an email to guys1943dodge@hotmail.com or (text message ONLY) to: (Edit by moderator (removed telephone number)) - PLEASE DON'T PHONE YET, AS I WORK NIGHTS!!! Don't worry - I will get back to you! Smile

Regards - Guy.

Its nice to see so many people eager to help a fellow enthusiast and someone trying to get into the hobby, to succeed - WELL DONE!!! Shocked

Don't worry, we have now aquired a superb car on our own - via the Classiccarsforsale website.

Sorry Minty I forgot I had a stash of pre war 12 to 16 hp cars in my lock up. I brought them a few years ago on the off chance that someone might want one one day. To be fair Minty if we haven't got what you want then there's not much point in replying is there, when I brought my Rover P3 I did what most other people do - picked up a classic mag or paper and just had a look to see what was about, its not rocket science is it. dont blame every one else just because we didnt have what you wanted

People on here are often keen to help - when they can. A cars for sale site is always going to turn up more leads than a mention on a general classic cars site like this one.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the replies gents - it was exactly the opposit that made me reply in such a way...

Like you guys, I am always keen to help anyone get into the hobby - hence putting the advert on here - what I was disappointed with, was that after looking at a few websites - C'C for Sale etc and ebay, a few became available to us - but not one reply was received on here advising us of such, by anyone...it seemed as though my fellow enthusiasts couldn't be bothered to help us...

In the end, my mate bought a '37 Standard Flying 12 off of the ClassicCarsForSale website: http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/classic-car-page.php/carno/127425

I understand that most people won't reply unless they have some useful info or advice to give - but I am sure that SOMEONE could have at least suggested where we could start looking!

Anyway - thats enough of that rubbish. Smile

Regards - Guy.

Your original post never asked where was the best place to look, you only asked if anyone knew of a suitable vehicle, seeing as its less than a fortnight from post to purchase you obviously knew where to look and shouldn't be complaining that forum members were unhelpful.

I think as this thread has been completed really with Minty's friend having bought a car, I will lock it before it descends into a disagreement.
