Howdy gang,
Last September we had a major flood in our remote little valley in British Columbia Canada. The water in my shop was well over the engine in our 1948 Thames e83w panel. We drained the water out of the engine transmission and rear end even the steering box had water in it.

My shop was a mess and after the water went down there was 4 inches of fine slit left on the floor and everything .

The doors were bent forward and broke the lower hinges pins on both sides. Big mess.

This week my grandson and I pulled the engine and stripped it down and cleaned the crapola out and put it back together. Yesterday we had to pull start it as the starter motor just didn't work after a clean up so it got sent off to be rebuilt.

The engine runs good . So we are up to task of getting the little van back in shape -- it will be a long term project.

Glad to have this site to pick up the infomation we need to work on it.

My first question

Are the bolts used in the Thames measured in Inch or Whitworth?
they seem to be "inch"

Hi Hank....... Manitoba has seen its fair share of liquid scenery this year.

I think you will find that the threads are UNF and UNC. Although they look like BSF and BSW they aren't the same, although some sizes of wrenches/spanners designed for BSF/BSW will fit UNF/UNC.

Sometimes it is easy to spot UNF/UNC by a series of joined up ooooo's on the flats, but it isn't on 100% of product.

our grandson , the next generation of Thames lovers

we used a fire hose to wash the mud and silt out after the flood

The doors now look like Dumbo's ears

We would like to see a Radiator as we don't have one and thinking about
using Toyota rad as a temporary fix.

Somehow the right semiphore assembly got lost in the flood so we are looking for one of those also.
