Can anyone recommend a company that can make Road wheels
I have been told that the rear wheels on the DLM 'wobble' a lot.
I did a club convoy drive to a show on Sunday, one of the members informs me that the rear wheel have a noticeable wobble, he first thought it was the tyres not sitting properly, but on closer watch it was the wheels.
Both front and rear wheels were made for the car, the fronts in the 1950's the rears in the 1970's.
The rears are fitted to a Ford 100e axle, the 100e centres were welded to a larger 16 inch rim.
The wheel sizes are Front 4.5 x 17, wire wheels, with three stud fitting to fit a Standard 9 axle.
The rears are 5.25 x 16, four stud to fit said 100e axle.
It would be nice to be able to replace the rears with wire wheels to match the front.
East Anglia would be handy but anywhere would do.

PS the car has got some vibration at higher speeds, I thought that this was a prop shaft problem and planed to have the shaft balanced or re-made. |

Phil
No mention on their site, might give them a call
Rick
I have a feeling I have had work done by this company some years ago.
I think they made the rear wheels in question, I'll have to ask if they used to be West London Wheels.
They were local to me when living in Hampstead, now Camden.
Might be lucky and get wires all round this time (at last).

Have a look at http://www.mwsint.com/RepairRestore.asp as it tells you where they were located and they also do repair wheels of your type. _________________ Keep Torqueing,

Thats the one RB
When I looked throught it from Ricks link.
Jeddo road ? I knew the area well but can't remember, nearly 40 years, if they were West London Wheels.
It was that area I got the rears made in 1970/71.
Anyway have sent an email with regards to work needed, and a request for a pointer to prices for a set of new wires all round.
Not too far to go to see them if need be.

Have also notice that a front wheel is in a dangerous condition.
Noticed while cleaning, wondered why there was a rust mark around the centre only to find a radial crack almost the full circumference of the weld
And looking again noticed that the crack is also radiating out to the wheel nut hole.
So off the road till wheels refurbished or new ones made.
Lucky in one way that the clutch slave developed a leak, might not hav had the wheels off and noticed.

Try a company in Kings Cliffe Northants, not sure of their name but visited their premises one day.Should be on google.!!!
They rebuild wheels and manufacture new ones.Three seperate buildings carrying out all the different operations.

Thanks Gresham
I'll give them a call in the week
It seems that the centres for bolt on wire wheels to be made are unavailable for my hubs.
If I went for centre lock the adapters/spacers would widen the track by three inches, unacceptable as that would push the tread outside the wings.
Will have to keep on looking for ready made.
Could do with a chart of car PCD's with the same size wheels.
Or a chart with car wheel sizes
OR
I know Sunbeams in the 50's had 5.25x16, and some had wire wheels, but were they centre lock or bolt on.
Will have to made a couple of templates, front and back, with the stud holes, and PCD marked on them.
Wheels are off to WMS for inspection, 4-7 day to check them.
First thing is to get these wheels sorted, might even get rid of the slight vibration that the car has/had.
All this as the Summer finally arrives.
