Here are a few photos from the family albums - I cannot offer much information, as I have never had any great knowledge of aircraft, and the family members who took the photos have died many years ago.
First of all a selection of photographs which I understand were taken at an airshow in Norwich, I think on Mousehold Heath, but possibly St Faiths, around 1936:
The next two show my grandmother's brother Reg Cremer, an ex RFC pilot, who was killed in a plane crash in North Africa in 1919 in one of these planes (I understood it was in a De Haviland DH4, but neither of these appear to be a DH4 ):
Anyone knowledgeable enough to identify any of these planes? |

A family story about a Cierva Auto-Giro has been brought to mind.
The story, as far as I am concerned came to light from a discovered newspaper cutting which turned up after the cousin of my wife passed away.
He had an amazing war, A Chindit, being stranded in Burma by the Japs, he and others escaped by stowing away on a Jap supply train and then stealing a boat and sailing it to somewhere (forgotten where) which took days. Only he and another of the five in the boat survived.
The relative bit is that somewhere along the line he had learned to fly an Auto-Giro and his final effort in the war was flying a Ciervo into the jungle to rescue injured soldiers. The article said, as close as I can remember: "There was a stretcher strapped each side of the Cierva and the overloaded machine had to be literally thrown into the air for the return trip by men running at each side".
A Volunteer, no one, not even his close family, knew anything other than he visited several signing on places before he was not refused, because he had suffered rheumatic fever as a child.
His name was Tom Hatton.

Sorry so slow
Thought I had them in my photobucket.
These are from my fathers photos, most have been lost to flood a few years ago.
He served with the RAOC in Africa and Egypt in the 1930's and early 1940's
The only photo among his collection that I have left states 1936, so I presume they are from around that time, anyway the DC2 first flew in 1934 so dates are close.
A KLM DC2 refueling, My Father is the gent second from left.
In contrast a Vickers Valentia
Saro London
Not too good a photo.
