Hi
Some photos from my archive.
Piper Colt that's me getting in.
Not sure but I think this is a Percival
and this should be a Piper Apache but it could be Cessna
and 3 photos of Llanbedr taken from public highway back in about '68

The Piper Colt with a similar registration,(i had to look twice) G-ARKN, was based at Derby until very recently, currently lives on Isle of Wight. |

And some miscellaneous shots from
Filton and off the web.
How would you fancy being on board this?
I don't know what a Canberra was doing at Filton in the late 60's.
The Brits were being refurbed.
That 747 did land.

I don't think that Jumbo is at Filton, the runway looks too narrow. Did you know that Filton is closing (as an airfield) for good this year?
Julian. |

Hi Julian
No, I believe the 747 was in S Africa, as I said i got that off the web.
I wonder what Rolls (or what ever they call the engine works now) and BAC will do about their communications aircraft when Filton closes, Lulsgate or Staverton?
Staverton is probably nearer in time though not distance. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

The main disruption will be for the Airbus guys and the three or four flights a day to Hawarden and Toulouse, currently operated by BMI Regional. Contracts are up for renewal soon I think, but the best rumour is that flights will go from Lulsgate instead - Staverton is probably too tight on runway length, operating hours and equipment for jet operations.
It is a great shame that Filton (as an aerodrome) is to close, of course Filton should have been Bristol's main airport - not that thing (ie Lulsgate) on the top of a hill originally built by the RAF as a bad weather training aerodrome!

Hi
Didn't realise they had contracted out.
When I was there BAC had a 125 and a Heron, and Rolls had 3 Doves, 2 125's, an Argosy and they aquired a Jetstream shortly after I left. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

Hi Rick
That centre section is a bit of a puzzle.
Looks to be a low wing aircraft similar in size to the Anson, but the nascelles don't look long enough to me.
Oxford could be a possibility.
Looking at how much wing extends beyond the nascelles and the structure of the exposed rib it probably needs someone with more knowledge of different manufacturers wing construction methods.
Having a look at the wiki page for Llanbedr I see they had the following there Quote: | Target tug
Miles Martinet TT.I
Westland Lysander TT.III
Bristol Beaufighter TT.10
de Havilland Mosquito TT.35
Gloster Meteor TT.20
English Electric Canberra B.2(TT), TT.18
[edit] Target drones
Fairey Firefly U.8, U.9
Gloster Meteor U.14, U.15, U.16
GAF Jindivik various marks
de Havilland Sea Vixen D.3
[edit] Communication & Ferry role
Avro Anson T.21
de Havilland Devon C.2 until 1994
Piper Navajo Chieftain from 1994
|
So maybe it was another Anson scrapped on site or possibly a Beau, don't see it as a Mossie because their engines were underslung and inline not radial. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.
