|
|
Hi guys, I am needing to replace the front windscreen frame on my 1956 Ford Thames, it has rusted right through. Does anyone know anyone that has one that is not rusted, or who I might contact to get another frame made up. I am trying to keep the truck original as the front window as you know opens out. Also I was wondering how I get the break shoes out of the hub.

| I don't know whether I explained myself properly, I am wanting to renew the brakes so I am not sure how to pull the hub to bits to get at the brakes. cheers Bazz |

| When I asked about screen surrounds for my Thames 4D lorry the brass ones were over £750 each, I need two! Needless to say I am still wanting them. Somone has suggested to me that a firm I think in the Leeds area make aluminium window surrounds for caravans and are willing to look into doing one off jobs. Sorry I do not have name or number but perhaps someone in that area might know. I will be very interested in any info found. A friend did suggest making a hard wood frame. Regarding brakes you need a hub puller for the rear brakes and just take off the drum with the hub on the front. Hub pullers can usually be found on ebay quite cheap but make sure it is for the E83W. Strangely I am in the process of doing mine at the moment ready for the mot. If you are near Romney Marsh you can borrow mine. Ken |

With reference to the hub puller, have heard it called a slosh nut,
Would one that fits a 100e & 103e axle do the job.
I'm in Tiptree Essex and have access to a couple.
If your in E.Anglia I could have a personal drive it day.
