Hi All,

We have just bought a 1955 ish Stirling 12ft caravan which need some repairs, any ideas where we can get help/parts or suggestions would be appreciated.

We need to replace the vents in the lantern light roof, they are complete but being frameless perspex have warped and will let in rain.

Also the window rubbers need replacing, where would we get rubber from?

And finally the fridge is an Electrolux 237A1 (can post photo if needed) and were wondering if anyone knew of anywhere that might have a suitable handle (the latch itself is ok but the handle has snapped) it is usable but would be nice to have it look right.

Thanks in advance

Darren

Hi Darren
We have a 1958 Stirling 10 caravan, and we found Stirling Caravan Services extremely helpful. The two guys that own this company were both employed by Stephens & West for many years before it closed down. They hold a lot of information about the caravans they built.
Their address is 'Moonshine' Burcombe Woodmancote, Nr Cirencester GL7 7AX
We purchased window seal through them, having found the correct profile.

I have attached some photos of our caravan.

Regards

Gill

You should get the window seals from seals direct in hampshire, www.sealsplusdirect.co.uk I got some for my cheltenham, they have a large selection. Did your Stirling come from the Whitby area by any chance, i looked at one there that had bowed plastic lantern roof windows

Thanks i'll give them both a try. Will certainly ring Stirling Caravan Services a ring, see what history they have for it.

No scooterdaz it came from Lincolnshire, could be a common problem with these.

A quick update.

After speaking to Dick at Stirling Caravan Services, it appears out caravan is actually a 1966 vintage!

He suggested www.eeco-ltd.co.uk for acrylic windows or wheel spats and they might be able to provide the lantern lights once i have provided photos etc.

For window seals he suggested www.coh-baines.co.uk and they are providing samples of two seals, as Dick couldn't remember for certain which is the correct one.

Just the fridge handle to source now, oh and some replacment curtains and some suitably old melaware crockery, i'm sure there will be more to come...

Clarina, I love your Stirling. We had an early 1970's twelve footer. Had a lot of contact with Dick Harding during restoration, and took it down for them to see once finished.

Dick and Tony are worth their weight in gold.
