After 18 Riley-free months, since Thursday we've been to Norfolk and back, covering around 600 miles touring 'God's Own Country' with the Riley Motor Club. |
You know the 'rules' on this site - Photographs please. We want to see how it looks after all the work. _________________ Keep Torqueing,

Here you go. There's still some work to be done to finish it.

I also use mine for trips to the garden centre. The sunroof is handy.

| Love the usage of the sunroof. My wife and I bought a Ford F150 with a 5.4L v8 because we wanted to make trips to the home improvement stores and carry away more building materials. |

As I said on the Range Rover threadf, its main use is to haul the caravan, around 10,000 miles a year, but it generally rests between holidays, when the Volvo 850 takes over.
Btw, I was with Brian M on part of his Swedish trip, but ours was over 7,000 miles in total, towing our Royale 'van. |

That looks good. Is the car on lowered suspension or are the wheels a different size? I bet it goes as well as it looks.
Nice colour - what is it called? _________________ Keep Torqueing,

Yoiu're not far wrong - the car is known as 'Riley Blue'. As far the actual colour name, I haven't a clue. It was picked as being a reasonable approximation to the original Bermuda Blue which we didn't like because it can look dull and even grey depending on the lighting.
The suspension is standard torsion bar/leaf spring with lever-arm dampers at the moment but improvements are planned and the wheels are 14". The engine hasn't been touched (yet) but has a tubular manifold and 1.75" exhaust in preparation for a gas flowed head. |

Occasionally I do the local town shows, but after years of touring holidays, static shows, rallys etc,' they are huddled together in the garage, taking up space and trying to look inconspicuous.
Decisions have to be made before long, but I can't make out a case for getting rid of any one of them.
The Austin 10/4: I've had since 1985, been everywhere in it, used it as second car for years. May be the only car I can get in and out of shortly.
Austin 7 Special: Built from chassis up in 1998, took a year of my life doing it while recovering from heart surgery. It looks so damn sexy.
Austin Healey Sprite mk4. Huge job rebuilding body which should have been scrapped. Totally reliable, a delight to drive, and used as second car when the memsahib won't let me have the modern.
1939 Ariel 600cc Sq 4: Haven't had the bottle to ride it for over 10 years now. Unlikely I ever shall again owing to degenerative back problems. Youngest son is drooling over it and wants to use it for his wedding... It doesn't take up much space and has appreciated more in value than any other thing (apart from house) I've ever owned.
I might have to mull over the problem for another few years... _________________ Due to the onset of my mid eighties I'm no longer sprightly and rarely seen in my Austin special. I have written a book though. https://amzn.eu/d/7rwRRqL |
