On a recent trip back to India (Goa) we rented this Old Mahindra Jeep from a friend of ours.

It's a Indian made copy of the WW2 Willys Jeep. We nicknamed it the tractor, as it drove just like one.

You had to stand on the brake to get it to stop. It was fun though all the same, as long as it did not rain. but it would never pass the M O T in the UK. Mind i dont think many of the older cars in Goa would pass the M O T either.

This is what Mahindra can make now. The Mahindra Scorpio is a fantastic machine. But they drive them like lunatics over there, and i am sure they think they are in a battle tank. [/img]

I was in India a year or so ago; really lovely people, but mad on the road Shocked I had a lift from someone who had a new car, when we got in the wing mirrors were tucked in (not uncommon on a modern when the ignition is off) however as we drove off the mirrors remained tucked in; bikes flew past on the inside hooting their horns as did traffic joining from every other direction, it seemed chaotic, but as ever there was no road rage, everyone seemed to accommodate everyone else. I asked the driver why he had the mirrors tucked in (mad seeing bikes were undertaking etc Shocked Shocked ) his response was ; "well the mirrors will only get knocked off, and its a new car!" he also said he failed his first driving test for not hooting enough!

Really want to go back!

Dave

Based on 10 years experience of living amongst the Welsh people, I wouldn't be surprised if some of them carry a stock of these stickers when they travel abroad and slap them on hire cars just for the hell of it... Laughing

The guy who owns the Jeep is from South Wales. Has lived in Goa for over 5 years now.

We lived in India for 3 years & this is normal driving over there. We just got used to it and ended up driving the way they do.
