Can someone tell me the tracking on the series 6 Gazelle if its toed in or out or parallel so that when it goes for laser wheel alignment we know what it is because the garages wont know. _________________ The Clan Chieftain |

Up to date laser alignment equipment will measure far more than simple tracking:
Tracking - normally now measured in degrees & minutes
King Pin Inclination,
Caster,
Camber,
Toe-out on turns,
Rear tracking,
Thrust angle.
I good workshop should be able to obtain the measurement limits and tolerances. |

I could do most of those way back in 1970 with the up to date tools i had then in a garage without a laser in sight and up to that time i could adjust with shim's to rectify camber and castor and rear tracking misalignment [Vauxhall] but once the welded front axle beam's showed up that was it. |

laser alignment ! what are you having aligned, a modern car or a proper car, get yourself a gunson tracrite ive used one on all my classics cars for the last twenty odd years and never had a worn tyre yet through poor wheel alignment .ill tell you a story of how good laser tracking is, my mum has had two new tyres on a fiat punto a month ago which were balanced tracked by laser the two fronts are wearing on the inside allready. the cars only 2 years old so i cant see any wear bieng present and she doesnt drive above 50 any where ,so she took it back last friday it was a mile out toeing out .so well see how it fares this month. |

Take Welshrovers advice and buy a Trakrite, I too have owned one for many years and have found it invaluable.
On one car, I had the tracking done with laser equipment and still wore the tyres down on the edge.
I adjusted with the Trakrite and stopped the wear immediately.
