This question arrived via email the other day, can anyone help with information?
------------------------------
In my search for a friend's family history I have come across his half Uncle
'Walter Noel Rees' - commonly called Noel Rees. He was a builder and seemed
to run a team or two of racing cars with the likes of Brian Lewis and Tim
Birkin etc in the 1930's, which I have gathered quite a bit about. I was
even lucky enough to find a similar Maserati as the one owned by him at 'The
Goodwood Revival' this year. Just one chassis number out! There were only 2
made.
However the other item to come up on Google, which I can find nothing about,
is that the body of the Talbot AW75 Sports Saloon 1933 was by Darracq and
styled by Noel Rees. Have you any information at all about this car,
especially related to Noel Rees or do you think I should join the forum to
ask?
Whilst our friend is not quite so interested in cars we are real Classic Car
enthusiasts and would love to find out the history of the styling of this
lovely car. _________________ Rick - Admin

Noel Rees had a close-coupled saloon body built onto a Talbot 105 chassis in 1932. The original design was probably by Vanden Plas, although Rees may well have had some input in terms of the general concept. A similar style was used when Arthur Fox rebuilt the original single-seater Team 105 into a road car at the end of the 1932 season. The body was then adopted by Talbot as a catalogued model for the 1933 season on both the 105 and short 75 chassis:
