Despite being a serious non-believer in many things, including marriage, me and my various old cars over the years are responsible for conveying at least four couples to married bliss. To the best of my knowledge all of these couples are still together, (Just remembered, one of them isn't!). how many of you have been involved in UNPAID work of this nature. Why is this the tradition?

| Lots of people like to have their traction engines at the wedding, I know if i ever get married my Mistress will be present, not sure what the bride will say, but tough... Can you tell why I am single yet... |

My car has been the conveyance for my daughter's wedding and two other weddings of friends. I think all three are still intact.

One of my closest friends is getting married in May next year. I have offered my services as wedding car and chauffeur, can't think why he politely refused... _________________ Richard Hughes |

I would imagine as long as it is UNPAID it would be ok, otherwise it could affect your classic car insurance. _________________ The Clan Chieftain |

If it was for a mate, I would expect an invite to the wedding , in which case I'd have a drink so not appropriate to drive, non mates I'd expect a fee.
That said I went to 2 weddings in 2012 and had such a bad head the next morning, maybe I should offer a car and then I wouldn't drink
Probably wont ever happen

I have done one, shortly after getting the car I was volunteered by SWMBO, and I have had to decline one other request. The comments from the guests made it all worthwhile

My Austin 10/4 was used for a friends wedding. My son (a keen biker) had planned to turn up for his wedding on my 1939 Ariel Sq4. After discussing it a great deal we decided best not... _________________ Due to the onset of my mid eighties I'm no longer sprightly and rarely seen in my Austin special. I only used one of our classics once for a wedding - my sisters in 1998. It was her third in 13 years but for this one they are still together
Must be the P5B we had then (a 1968 saloon). Its my wife with it when taken and I have had her 30 years now
Both beautiful

in the past I've done 4 weddings with the Alvis, I didn't charge as it was against the insurance policy.
I've said I would never do another one....its hard trying to keep a stressed bride happy.
