We arrived early at the Nag for the New Year's Day gathering. Organised by VSCC-ers, there was a varied selection of pre-war cars, joined by a number of later vehicles for added variety.

We were there in the Dodge, and forum member Salopian turned up in his Alvis.

A good turnout I thought Rick - sorry I left without saying goodbye! Sunny but cold day and damp which suits the 12/50 well as the 30 miles home only took 40 minutes.
That Dodge should suit you well and I have to admit it was a Hudson I think in the Grapes of Wrath not a Dodge! I put it down to age and ignorance. You will have to keep an eye open for Hicky Hicklings yellow Dodge 4 trials car in VSCC events although I haven't seen it out since last spring. Heres a pic if this works - http://www.motorsport-imagery.com/pwa7cwintertrial2011/h392044C4#h392044c4
Good photos - thought you'd missed me until I saw the last one.
And a healthy prosperous New Year to yours and all the forumists.

What is it about New Years day that there seems to be VSCC events everywhere but no ordinary Classic Car events.

Where we live in North Cambridgeshire its a bit of a desert when it comes to events.
We had to drive an hour away to see any cars on New Years Day and that was a VSCC event cancelled but some diehards like us turned up anyway.

With all the car magazines published in Peterborough and the hype they give out, you would have thought this area of Cambridgeshire was the centre of the Classic Car world...how wrong you would be.

We saw an old Morris Minor Traveller sounding like a bag of old nails turn up at Barrington at the VSCC event,it looked like a shed on wheels, (we own a well kept model) it was one of those cars you shy away from with your camera....turned out to be the editor of Practical Classics.

I am not saying he should own a concourse car but come on show an example to us mortals.!!!!

I suppose it isn't possible to have NYD meets in every area of the country. Apart from Ford meets, there was nothing in Essex either, the meet in Suffolk was a 1hr 40 min drive away.
For me, it was a choice between this and the Brooklands meet in Surrey. This is a much nicer drive there, no motorways, no bridge toll, and Brooklands charges £10 to get in. Apparently 1100 cars attended though making it the biggest classic car meet in the South East (maybe the country?)
Regarding the Morris Minor, to be fair to the bloke the magazine is called Practical Classics, and that car will get used in all weathers, all year round, it's probably not garaged either, and will do a lot of miles.

Better that than have it sitting in a garage gathering dust for 350 days of the year?
