We usually do photos of our cars in the snow about now. The Special started instantly before I opened the garage doors. Then it saw the snow and wouldn't even fire again. Took a photo anyway.

It should be at The Herne Bay Shows this year Roger. When the weather gets better I'd like to take it on one of the Thanet Classic runs. _________________ Due to the onset of my mid eighties I'm no longer sprightly and rarely seen in my Austin special. Pigtin, loving your special. What's it based upon?
I'm intrigued as to the use you put the microwave oven to. Or is it a very early example of Satnav?

| Microwave is useful softening window rubbers so they can be persuaded to fit - 30-40 secs usually does the trick. |

Austin 7 chassis, Reliant engine and Gearbox and any odd bits I could scrounge. This includes the remote gear mechanism from a 1935 Triumph Gloria. Heavy guage alloy sheet and bracketry from a Tenpin Bowling Center Lane conditioner. Front hydraulics from a Morris Minor; hydro-mechanical rear braking from an Austin A30. Two suspension units from a Honda 90... etc' etc'
It's going to be difficult to explain the Microwave, but I'll try. Do you remember the scene in Frankenstein where the monster was surrounded with electrical gizmo and was resurrected to the crackling of electricity and the flashing of lights?
Now the microwave is as near as I can get to the venerable Viktor Frankenstein's equipment for use in the ressurection of cryogenically preserved lugworm.
The long deceased invertibrates are laid in rows within the device, and 'nuked' for approximately 15 seconds. They then swell out and assume the rosy glow and appetizing aroma of a fresh lugworm. The spark of life, of course, is still absent but when mounted on a hook and presented to a hungry fish this is no problem. _________________ Due to the onset of my mid eighties I'm no longer sprightly and rarely seen in my Austin special. Not a mess,
Used.
I tidy mine now and again, and then spend half the day looking for things |

Pigtin, is the microwave in the kitchen broken then?
Your garage is particularly well organised and tidy because I see that you have even got room to put cars in it...better than most people. |

The microwave in the kitchen? You are stirring painful memories there colwyn. I live in the hope that one day the memsahib will forget the time I resurrected my lugworm in it. It is over a year now and the smell still seems to linger.
I wish I had room to get my boat into the garage as well, but a car would have to be sacrificed before that can happen. _________________ Due to the onset of my mid eighties I'm no longer sprightly and rarely seen in my Austin special. I have written a book though. https://amzn.eu/d/7rwRRqL |

I found the answer Pigtin: a bit of psychology.
Park your car facing backwards to the door and promise it that you will put up the hood once it has driven out. ( In my case, don't remind the car that the hood is in shreds).

It worked a treat.

Oh, just remembered; does your car actually have a hood?
Oops. |

That looks good. I can't remember ever seeing that model with the hood down before.
I have a bolt-on windscreen and full weather equipment for the special... it's just so damned claustrophobic I never use it. _________________ Due to the onset of my mid eighties I'm no longer sprightly and rarely seen in my Austin special. I have written a book though. https://amzn.eu/d/7rwRRqL |
