I have a 1969 Triumph TR6C. Can someone please tell me what TR6C stands for. I have owned this bike for since 1983. I rode it and repaired it for 15 years. Never did find out what TR6C was. Single carb 650. Used to start on one kick, but am looking for some parts to rebuild upper and part of lower motor. [/b]

TR6 was Triumphs designation for the Trophy. the C meant that it was a US export version with high level pipes on the left hand side.

A lot of people think that the Trophy models were the best of the 650's from Triumph.

Welcome to the forum. Very Happy

I've read in several instances that the 1969 range of large capacity Triumphs was the optimum culmination of all. They were as reliable as any 60's bike could be, they finally managed to go round corners safely and swiftly and they looked so right!
The TR6 was also considered to be more realistic as a daily use bike when compared with the Bonneville who's twin carbs admittedly gave a few more MPH but at the cost of frequent carb balancing to maintain the optimum.
When I was made redundant and lost my company car in 1994 my sole transport became my then 25 year old Trophy and I never once had reason to doubt that I'd get wherever I needed to.
I also own and use a modern Honda Fireblade who's performance is thrilling but it will never offer the joy of ownership that the Triumph does.

Thank you for the information. I was told that the C stood for competition, glad I didn't believe them. I live in Michigan, In the United States, Hope that is not a problem. Bike is for sale even if I find parts or not. Needs a lot of work. Have good motor that needs to be gone through. Original tank with screw on emblems, stock forks. Needs frame work, clutches & pads. Some motor work. Just needs more care than I can give for now.
