My mate who has the Singer Gazelle has it insured through Footman James and he wanted to put his marina on the same policy, and was told they dont do that any more and he would have to take out a fresh policy.
Anyone else came across that. It was only last week.

Must be quite a recent change as I added a car to a FJ policy in December.

That's crazy, I would have thought they would be keen to hold onto your friend's business. They've already annoyed all the under 25's who used to be insured with them (myself included) by either refusing to give renewals or giving sky high renewal premiums.

I'm now with Lancaster insurance, but I would recommend your friend tries either RH insurance (very cheap for over 25's) or Peter James insurance, who do a good multi car policy, and work out cheaper than RH if you have multiple vehicles.

FJ just don't seem to be competitive any more, and there are plenty of other companies to go to.

I've switched mine across to Hagerty, much better than a firm with the initials B.G. who I was with before. All vehicles on one policy, each has its own separate mileage allowance.

I was with Aon Classic Car Insurance for years, they were excellent. Then they took over Footman James, and their classic car insurance went to Footman James. I then found that:

1, my policy nearly doubled, and
2, having more than one car at more than one location caused complete confusion.
3, the person I spoke to had no comprehension of classic cars.

I am now with Peter James (who was the James in Footman James) what a difference, cheaper, more user friendly, efficient, and the phone staff know what I'm talking about.

I was with Aon right back to when it was Clarkson Puckle. When Footman James came along they loaded American cars and they increased the price on my daily driver. I am with Adrian Flux at the moment but they keep sticking little extras on.

Footman James quoted me a fantastic deal on a three car policy, two classics and a modern. When I rang back to take it up, they said they no longer did multi-car policies!
Another customer lost. I only get p*ssed about once.

i had the wedding cars and my MG insured with Footman james for 5 years or so - excellent prices, 3 cars, 10 drivers all for hire and reward including public liability... this years renewal came in nearly double and it didn't include public liability cover either... tried peter james, now have all 3 cars insured with 'any driver over 30' unlimited mileage and agreed values including hire and public liability for less than last years quote from footman.

I dont know whats changed at footman james, but i've heard a lot of people are moving away from them at the mo.

I have just changed to Peter James, a multi car policy with unlimited mileage no hidden extras and a very good price.

I got fed up with Adrian Flux they wanted £15 key insurance, £15 agreed valuation (insurance companies have asked my advice on American car values!) £15 personal accident, they wanted that for each car. I was told all these extras were part of the deal and had to be taken

Their staff were always very polite, but it was like getting blood from a stone getting proof of no claims
