Hi
Any details on the Bristol?
I checked the register and there isn't one resident on Orkney so it might be a visitor from the other mainland or alternatively it may be one not known to the registrar _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

We did our run in the Manta's, but a shortened version in the end due to the rain. As Manta's rust pretty badly, we all swore we could actually here them fizzing out in the rain this morning!
Roger, sorry I didn't see your post previously, we finished at Cold Norton down near me in the end, didn't make it as far as Tiptree and on to Suffolk. Originally plan was to come right through Tiptree!
Richard, sorry I missed your post also, we started from a pub down near Brands Hatch this morning and headed up into Essex, stopped at Thurrock Services, then on to a carvery lunch at The Three Rivers country club in Cold Norton. We had a good run, bit of a mishap at a traffic light controlled roundabout near Lakeside where we all got split up and took different exits, but quickly sorted it and got back onto the A13. A good day had, despite the weather. _________________ Born to rally, forced to work!

The Bristol is not a resident of the Island, nor any other than mine. We have regular visitors from various car club groups, and the occasional bike group. The Vintage Club up here, lists amongst other vehicles, a Buick, a Model T, an Alvis, a Messerschmitt, a handful of Dolomites and Toledos,(Triumph), an odd Wolsley, Classic capri, 70's Capri's, Escorts, 100e van, and various 70's and 80's cars including an XJ6, and various bikes, with my Commando, a T140, a flat head Harley, various Honda Fours, and more! _________________ KA

We had a great Drive It Weekend. We left Chesterfield after lunch on Saturday and followed our usual A38/A5 route south to arrive in Shepperton for a 7:00 pm dinner.
Then to Brooklands Sunday morning to watch the cars coming and going - about 75-80 in all. We meet the very friendly owner of a pre-war Rolls Royce who spent half an hour showing us his car then was equally interested in our Riley 1.5, a super chap.
We left just after 3:00 pm and saw loads of classics on the drive back, getting a wave from most drivers. Apart from torrential rain as we drove through Derby on Saturday the weather was dry though overcast at Brooklands. We drove 367 miles and the car ran like a dream - the best Drive It Day yet! _________________ David

We had a great day too, out early and a quick stop in Prees Heath truck stop to see some of the classic trucks. There was a large gathering of Triumphs and MGs who were off to a secret meeting somewhere.
after a nice warming coffee we meandered off and eventually got home at about 3, about 150 miles in all and I must say my Singer seems to be getting better and better.

Not to worry Dave
Couldn't get out anyway as Gout playing up again and can't press the pedals.
Glad you all had a good day even with metal oxide weather. |

Hi Kev, we looked out for you (got there about 10am), didn't spot the Singer though. Maybe next year!

Was a bit pushed for time so arrived early, grabbed a brew and shot off, I was parked next to that Morris 1000 van that you have snapped (sign written one). Next year I will try and have more time and hopefully meet up with a few members.

The National Trust must had a lobotomy!!
Basically they're a buch of greenies who don't like having cars around their properties.
Back in 2008, they grudgingly held an event at Culzean Castle organised by Tony Flint that was a big success in terms of content and vehicles, like a kind of mini Goodwood and the plan was to incorporate the old 1952 Grand Prix circuit at nearby Turnberry as well for future events, but the NT were difficult, elitist, and didn't deliver on the agreed parking management and grass cutting arrangements etc.
The even tried to renage on the division of the takings by saying that everyone who attended was an NT member and entitled to 50% discount therefore Tony ended up well out of pocket for the whole deal and the NT imploded at Culzean and ended up firing their own chairman. Maybe they realised what they had potentially lost with this event in the future.
That event in 2008 was a stunner complete with its own startline for classic racers to be put through their paces, but it didn't fit with the NT ethos and they demonstrated that well.
Culzean is on its bottom financially, so that must be the only reason why they're "keen" now to attract classic cars..
