Hi one and all from a newbie
I was given this Caravan and would like to think one day..............
I think it is probably about a 1970 build but unsure, if any one can date it I would appreciate the input. Thanks Paul.

These are lovely caravans, always had a soft spot for them. but that one is going to be a big job by the look of it. the door looks like its missing and that means a LOT of water getting into the interior. One good-ish thing is if the interior is totally shot, you could put in a totally new one. I've seen restorations like this where the restorer put in a ultra modern interior and I think with this old girl that would work very well. At least anything would be better than another "Kath Kidson" MONSTOSITY! _________________ I can resist anything except temptation ! ( Oscar Wilde)

| Good luck with that one, but it should look good when restored. I would guess 1968, as it looks like mine, which was in almost as bad state. The top and bottom is fibreglass, and the bottom collects water like a bath. Definitely worth doing though! |

Hello and thanks for the replies,
She is dry inside and quite sound but interior went before I got her, all wood work is presentable with a little work will be fine inside, so plenty of evidence bits to copy and both halves of the door are present. One little down side is that it needs one of the curved perspex windows on the rear replacing with some ally work to, but we have the technology
If she's 1968 wouldn't she look good on the back of my Humber Sceptre which is 1965..............Paul _________________ Paul

| Hello from another New(ish) fibreline owner! I too am trying to work out the date, and as far as I can work out so far is that mine is a 1974 unless someone can stand me correcte - I worked that out from the 2 plates, there was a caravan makers one on the a frame cover, and there is a peak trailers one unerneath the cover, riveted to the a frame itself. Mine looks like yours from the front, still got the rounded windows and the same bottle holder as opposed to the smaller one. |

I'm part way through the firsts Wolseley Hornet at present and also my A35 has had some real and proper repairs done by the best Austin club restorer, Neil actually won at our National rally the prize for the best original A35 van, which was quite heavily restored and he also built the Wallace and Grommit van for Ardman productions for the promotion of the film.
Still more projects, but I like to be busy..................Paul _________________ Paul

This looks to be a really nice project. First thing to do if it were mine would be to get it under cover. Take loads of photos. Try and find out where all the bits you have go, before taking them out and storing them. Don´t throw away ANYTHING
Perspex windows can be readily made through the trade-glazier. There weren´t any new ones for my Vogue but managed to get some new sorted quite easily. Don´t think that the perspex windows are identicle to each other. Mine weren´t. They looked the same but we individual to the -orrifice- they came out of. Mine took 10 years to complete but I don´t want to put you off Fiberglass gets old (and brittle) remember that.
The -spats- look as they are there. Well done (mine were missing). Nice that the tow bar sits on top of the frame (and not between the frame members like the Vogue---- nightmare. If you have any more thoughts then ask away. A lot of knowlegeble people on here |

Paul, I have only just joined this forum, I know your post is a bit old now. I have a 1966 one of these, and managed to purchase a second van which had to be broken for spares where it was, so I happen to have a spare door for one of these as well as many other bits. I am sure year of manufacture is on the plate on a frame. Hope to start resto on mine this year, good luck with yours.
