Many corporates (including the one I work for) who use IE as the default search engine, will route the inter web through a proxy server, to control and prioritise Internet use (and lock the connection setting) , those with a bit of nouse, install Firefox to circumvent the proxy server. This may be your problem?

Almost any other browser is preferable to Internet Explorer. I mostly use Opera but also have Firefox, Safari and Chrome installed.

I use FF nearly all of the time, occasionally IE but only to test something or other. Never use Chrome as I figure I give Google enough info already!

If you've never compared it with a different browser you wouldn't know how much better they can be.
