Yesterday was nice and dry and quite mild so I cut my back grass. It annoys the neighbours because they will now get nagged to get theirs cut. Great fun. Has anyone else ventured into their garden yet.? _________________ The Clan Chieftain |

Yes, my wife has been planting seeds in the greenhouse and I've dragged the pond pump out for a service... grass needs cutting though. |

We've been doing a fair bit of internal decorating this last week or two, so it was a relief (kind of) to get out in the sun, and spend time cutting back some trees* and having a general tidy-up. Then it was back inside to re-fit curtain pole, cupboard, coat hooks etc etc

I must have annoyed my neighbour 2 doors down as he cut his grass today. _________________ The Clan Chieftain |

| I've just spent an hour raking moss and dead grass out of the back lawn. I've only done half and my arms are really aching so it'll get finished tomorrow - or the day after. Then it's on to the front lawn... |

At this end of the globe, we are preparing for oncoming coolth, so today I was out gathering some kindling wood.
This is actually cut from a recently fallen tree, so is too green for burning now. I try to harvest wood at least two, and preferably three years ahead of needs to give it plenty of time to dry out. _________________ Dane- roverdriver but not a Viking. |

I have never heard the expression coolth before. Sounds good though. With our weather now we have coolth all the year round. _________________ The Clan Chieftain |

'Coolth', is the opposite of 'warmth', but a term rarely used even in the antipodes.
Incidentally, I like to have a good wood supply in case of snow. We have fairly regular snowfalls in this part of Southern Victoria. Last one was August 2005, the one before that was August 1955, and there was one in about July 1905. I'm looking forward to the next one! _________________ Dane- roverdriver but not a Viking. |

Round these parts that's a toothpick...
Altogether now...
I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay
I sleep all night and I work all day
I cut down trees,
I skip and jump
I like to press wild flowers
I put on women's clothing
And hang around in bars |

Snow every 50 years The last time I saw a log that big was on the Log Flume at Blackpool Pleasure beach.
I started weeding today and gave up after about an hour because it was too cold.....brrrrrrrr. _________________ The Clan Chieftain |

A very official envelope arrived for Mrs C. the other day... From the council.... telling her that she is at the top of their list..... and has been allocated.....AN ALLOTMENT!
So Sunday morning was taken up with a viewing of the said plot and whilst I see it as an opportunity to own another shed, her idea is that my time will be better spent digging the plot over. Just as well be both love runner beans! |
