I used to have an A40 Somerset which lay in Allans of Uddingston and I bought it when the garage closed a few years ago. It was minus engine and gearbox and I sold it on because I couldnt source an engine at the time.
Its first owner was D.Bartlett whose family started the potato empire and now export them worldwide. _________________ The Clan Chieftain |

Yes.
The blue 1962 PA Vauxhall Velox, LCC 648, of which I posted a photo 18 months or so ago on here and which my father bought in 1963 with a tiny mileage.
The first owner was a Lady Olwen Carey Evans who was one David Lloyd George's daughters.
The current "modern" which is my mother's car, a Fiat Panda diesel which was registered on 31/12/2010 was owned by Fiat UK and used in photo adverts. Fiat apparently register four Pandas every year which have every extra on the options list and use them for photo and demonstration purposes.
The silver one owned by my mother has everything apart from a leather interior - electric sunroof, panoramic rear roof, special alloy wheels and so on.
I bought it for her direct from Fiat when it was six months old. _________________ Starting Handle Expert

Not a famous person, but the well known Vat 69 whisky company.
The car was a Sheerline limousine which came to us with the reg. RWS 593, though the (card) log book revealed it was originally registered (yes, you've guessed) as VAT 69.

Over the years I used to see various high end cars around this area with the VAT 69 number on it _________________ ROVER

My Avon XJ6 was originally owned by Lord Alan Sainsbury.
When I spoke to the saleman at HR Owen he told me that the Sainsburys looked at an XJ saloon but Mrs S. complained that she wanted a car that could carry her pot plants upright from the flat in town to their home.
In fact they could have bought the XJ saloon and a Granada Estate for the price of thew Avon! |

| I once owned a Ford Pilot it was reistered in London and the first owners name was in the log book. I can't remember who it was now, but when the Krays were on trial the same name cropped up as a member of the gang. I don't know if it was the same person or just a coincedence. |

| I don't know if my Range Rover had a famous owner or not, but I know of at least three identical cars with consecutive reg numbers, all with HR Owen badges on the back. I asked DVLA about the original owner but they declined to tell me, saying that just owning the car now was insufficient reason to tell me. |

Ellis - I have a soft spot for Fiat Pandas having owned three in succession and if you have a photgraph of this unusual car I'd love to see it. |

Showing photos of a modern car on this forum is unusual, I know, but Scotty asked if I would show a photo of the Fiat Panda diesel which was once part of Fiat Uk's press and demonstration fleet.
Unusually, it was "loaded" with nearly extra on the options list. Have a look at these few photos and I will list the options that were fitted when new.

The optional extras fitted are as follows :
Electric sunroof
Panoramic glass rear roof
15" alloy wheels
Rear parking sensors
Electric and heated door mirrors
Steering wheel ICE controls
Front fog lamps
Roof rails
Door side trims
60/40 split rear seat
Cigarette lighter
Metallic paint
It also had contrasting floor overmats and tailored seat covers but no boot light!
The paint must have been treated with some polymer or chemical because when clean, raindrops bead on the surface even now and I have not polished it. The lacquer coating feels thick.
Strangely, the rear hatch badge "1.3 Multijet Diesel" is missing.
If all these options were added when new they would have cost about £3000 on top of the list price.
I never order any optional extras on new vehicles.
I doubt if a small Fiat city car will ever become collectable but if this one still exists in twenty years time with this provenance, who knows?[/img] _________________ Starting Handle Expert

On a similar subject, I was selling mk Mk 3 Triumph Spitfire, had a phonecall and arranged for a guy to see it the next day.
I was suprised to see Chris Evans and his then wife Billie Piper turn up.
They took the car for a spin around my cul de sac, and I was amazed at how fast word got around, and the street was full of onlookers by the time they returned. They took it all well, waving at everyone, roof down, and I must say, very nice people they were too.

My mates got a yellow TR7 hard top stored unrestored in his workshop that was once owned by Joe Pasquale. _________________ If the world didn't suck we'd all fall off |
