Hi
Tonights programme features, at 19mins in, a Tavistock project restoring Robeys including a picture of a 3 inline TriTandem roller.

If you have a good look through their for sale section they have had Robey varnish transfers made and also have some surplus tandem parts for sale.

Hi

Sorry missed the Activity on this thread, Whoops!

Yeah saw the bit on the BBC, Both Jack and Dave featured, and it got the trust a good bit of publicity, they have quite a lot of interesting items there, and I am "the northern branch!" hehe. Yeah I saw the transfers, I will have to get some, not got any yet, and not in need of any bits really at the moment, touch wood, but I do need a Whistle and valve if anyone knows of one?

The Tri-tandem in question was the one on the iplayer, and it is owned by the Tritandem Partnership, in the Robey trust, for which shares can be bought. Let me know if anyone wants to know more, can put you in touch with the my friend who is incharge of that engine.

I will do an update on the engine at the end of the week, should be a bit to report by then! Smile

Cheers

Dave

Hi

Well this week has seen a little Progress, the Belly tank is now back on, after a good clean out, not done the molasses or the coating yet, that may need to wait untill next year now, not had time, but the 2 or 3" of sediment in the bottom has been removed so that has to help a bit.

I have dug a few Gland Packings out, just need to buy some to refit.

I have had a play with the shims on the big end, but it does need more work yet. maybe when she is warm.

I have also strted the roof today, layed the Canvas, just needs lots of coats of paint this next week, and that should be done, bar cutting the excess Canvas off, and refitting the fittings, I may repaint the underside, it just depends what the paint for the canvas has soaked through like when the time comes.

Lastly I have bouth a 120 Gallon Water tank, forr use in either the Landrover back, or on a Water cart, for which I have been offered a modern chassis/axle.

More will be reported as and when, and pictures will be shown.....

Cheers

Dave

Hi

Dave you must come over and see her at some point, wait a month or two and you may see her on the road, or rather get stuck swearing and ranting, in a 10 mile tail back on the Whitchurch Road.....

Water, well she is quite economical, but it is still GPM not MPG Smile , I can get a good 5 mile before refilling but with my new tank I hope to crack 12 mile, but we will see. 14 Gallons to the mile I would think, good job she doesn't run on Petrol isn't it! hehe Not sure on coal, depends what coal too, but at £7 per 25kg, and a bunker taking £35 worth, I recon a good day may cost me £40 or £50, more if I am constantly roading maybe.. Then the oil....

I am going to stop now...

Cheers

Dave

Thanks to buzzy for allowing me to have a go at the steering of his roller around the yard, very entertaining (if a little deafening Wink).

Dave, I'm sorry, but I clean forgot about your invite to view the beastie! We'll be at Little Budworth from 10th - 15th of October, if the invite still holds.
