I have won plenty of trophies etc with my stationary engines etc over the years, also won a frozen turkey in a rally raffle in December! Laughing
At Newark Tractor Show I won the cup for the Best Unrestored Engine, only problem was that I had spent three months previously rebuilding and repainting it so it just shows what judges know haha. Embarassed

Pete.

I won an award from the Transport Trust for the truck, but it wasn't earned at a show as such so may not count Smile

I would consider that the ultimate accolade if it was awarded to one of my cars. Well done.

And if it was me I would call it a miracle. Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing
I would quite fancy a stationery engine..are they expensive. In the 60s BT had a few pumps and generators etc. They called them mechanical aids and they were easy to work on.

I do have a few from when I attended concourse d 'elegance with my green mini and previous to that being ready with my rover cooper!!
Left all of them at my mum's house when I got married!!
I do not have any more cause I never did enter another concourse d'elegance, not for me anymore, but it was nice at the time!!

I won the mayor's choice at a show a couple of years ago, not because my Jowett is in anyway concours, but because the mayor, in his younger days had run a similar vehicle when courting!!!! Laughing

Scrap value will get you started, say £50 will get a runner. Like every other hobby there are those whe have a limited budget and others who have seemingly open cheque books. Put STATIONARY ENGINES into ebay and see what you fancy. Wink

Talking of stationary engines I visited the steam show in Knebworth in the early 1970's.
used to be a major show each year.

Must post the photos for buzzy bee.
Is there a thread for 'steam' somewhere

There was a Large stationary engine fixed on the bed of a low loader trailer.
The spoked flywheel was about 8 foot diameter, two lads started to turn the flywheel trying to start the engine, a crowd had started to gather.
When the engine started the trailer started to jump about before the engine settled down to it's usual
pop pop weeze weeze pop weeze weeze pop pop pop

The crowd disappeared to a safer distance rather quickly Laughing Laughing
