Dunno.
In France central heating copper tube tends to be Phosphor Bronze brazed.
However, for myself, a soft solder union not subject to excessive vibration will last pretty much forever.
Indeed, I have used (and would use!) soft solder joints on air compressor fittings working up to 150 PSI.
If in doubt or of a nervous disposition then use Silver Solder. Or if utterly paranoid, Phosphor Bronze weld/braze.
Which is precisely what I used to rebuild a Citroen DS, belonging to a charming French customer: the car kept dropping its green hydraulic fluid all over his drive!
The culprit (which was a right **d to isolate!) was an aircraft hydraulic distribution sandwich plate, with umpteen steel bundy pipes in and out both sides and nice (Nasty!) little O rings between the milled and ground three plate sandwich. The feed pipes had, thanks to vibration, work hardened and fractured the Silver Solder: pig of a job, but solved - eventually. _________________ Well, apart from that, did you enjoy the play, Mrs Lincoln? |
