I wonder which engine they had.
according to wiki:-
In the late 1950s and 1960s some Karrier vehicles were fitted with the Rootes TS3 two-stroke opposed piston diesel engine. Other engines used in this period include Humber Hawk 4-cylinder petrol engines (L-Head and OHC), Humber Super Snipe 6-cylinder (L-Head and OHV) and Perkins Diesels. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

Thanks for the comments
Rusty: yes re: the small Oldsmobile ute. I was at a swap meet years ago, and a guy had a 1938/39 Olds ute for sale , He was asking $1500, the ute was in rough shape but it was restorable. Your mention of a similar Oldsmobile is the only other example I've ever heard of. A rare vehicle indeed !
The Karrier pic has prompted some comments !
I noticed the crank handles and it's a mystery . Some older military vehicles of British origin have a permanent crank handle that folds away , the handle is hinged .
The mechanical traffic signal arms were in use until the 1960s. Was it a Australian thing ?? Don't know. |
