Selkirk was a great show..We had 14 Marinas on our Marina Ecosse stand. I was there with the caravan all weekend and we decided to hang back on the Sunday till after 6 to let all the traffic away. I got stuck in the mud on the way out and was charged £5 to get towed out with a tractor. After all it was not my fault that the exit was muddy. Straw could have been put down to help people get their cars out. I just feel that a great weekend was wasted by getting ripped off at the end of the show.
One of our chaps was sworn at by Marie on the way in because he took a wrong turn..not very welcoming. I overheard 2 other chaps talking down at the autojumble and they were saying they were sworn at as well.
The same happened on the way in to Scone Palace the previous week as well.....not nice at all.
No point in complaining about the swearing at Selkirk as the organiser is called M.... Evil or Very Mad

71 - Have you (as a club) written an official letter of complaint listing your grievences to the organisors of Selkirk asking for a response or meeting with them?

No - you need to resolve the issue in a business-like manner. One-to-one confrontations, be it written or in person, almost always result in a poor outcome and nothing positive is achieved for either the aggrieved person, your club or the organisors.

The key here is not raising the issue at a personal level, it is a much better process raising it officially with the Chair of the organising club and asking either for a meeting or at least a telephone conversation. If they are willing to agree to either of these suggestions then it opens up the opportunity to raise not only the inappropriate manner of the person in question, you could also raise your earlier point about the cut off date at the same time.

Of course all this is assuming the organisors are receptive towards outside comment with regard to the event, they might just blow you off, but it would be my first step because that way you'll have raised an official complaint in the correct manner. If they refuse to correspond or meet you could then raise it with the Scottish Vintage Vehicle Federation (SVVF) committee, the organising club must be members of that body as they advertise the event in it's yearbook.

Mind you, the person sworn at might not agree to any of this PC approach and just wants a chunk of somebody's arse - that'd satisfy ruffled feathers I suppose, but I don't think it'd change anything.

This is the link to the SVVF's September events page (and the SVVF web site) - SVVF September Events
