Hi guys,
probably I am the last who have to speak about it, but I'm a big friend of UJ, and even if I don't write here often, I read sometimes.
My big issue is with the language, as I have few minutes to read per day and with English I am as fast as a turtle.

But I want to tell you all that I was the vice-Admin in the Italian forum for the American classic cars. UJ abandoning make me thinking about the abandoning of one of gurus of the Italian forum, which was followed, time after time, by many of the most important figures of the forum. Reasons were, more or less, the same. I abandoned at beginning of this year, too. I was really tired of continuous controversy. The cars almost disappeared in the topics!

Today, that forum has no interests for me. No technical posts, nothing interesting. Mostly unuseful posts. The best forum members are disappeared almost all. I am one of the lone wolfs in Italy, and I'm realizing one of the most interesting resto-mods of the entire country. I think it's a pity nobody is not seeing my progresses, but the people who can enjoy my photos are all unsubscribed!

So think about what I write, it will be a real pity if here is the beginning of a "deja-vù" for me, I hope really no, but... man advised, man saved, we say in spaghetti-country.

Take it easy and have a nice evening.

Ricky from Italy

Not having been on the forum for a while me and my other half were somewhat surprised to see this thread . Having read through the offending thread , read through UJ's demands , seen all the comments , I felt it only right to add our comments .
Rick this is a wonderfully informative forum for all things old and mechanical , anyone with an interest in these areas will read through the forum and post on here . These posts will be general , questions or answers . Even if someone is in the trade then I'm sure that if they are using this forum they will find the time to answer as well as question .
As to individuals making demands on how the forum is run all that will do is harm a wonderfully friendly and informative forum .
Hopefully adult common sense will prevail so we can carry on enjoying the forum .

I'm with Rick on this: as much as I enjoy and respect UJs contributions, no ONE person should consider themselves bigger than the forum.
I am still retained for consultation by our family firm and, while it's not motor engineering, I have learned things on this forum that could easily be of use... so, perhaps I would fall into the "Trade" catagory, as many others who are still employed might. Where would you draw the line UJ?
The one thing that marks this particular thread out is the reasonable, open-mindedness of all the contributors. This is the reason for the success of the forum and long may it continue.

Don.

Having sat back and considered the replies on the forum, plus various PMs and private emails, I think the concensus is to leave things as they are, which had been my intended plan all along. If there had been a groundswell of support for UJ's demands that he wished to see introduced prior to rejoining, I'd have considered changing things.

Therefore the loosely-strung rules, which have been in place pretty much from the start, will not be changing to suit his requirements. UJ has confirmed to me directly that he now wishes to stick to his original decision and no longer contribute to the forum, even if the 10 member's requests for his return (plus one from me) were to be forthcoming.

Rick

Rick, as has been previously implied, this is OUR forum, not his. I don't come on here to massage egos, merely to absorb or offer information, which ever is appropriate May I wish you all good fortune for the future? Be assured of my support.

Wow.

I haven't had much time to come around lately so this is a surprise. Especially also because UJ is a member of my own forum.

Well, hope all goes well and anyone who feels they will miss UJ are more than welcome to join www.theanarkistgarage.com including Rick.

Second, I would like it to be made a forum rule that if any member is involved in making money out of classics, be it through repairs, hire or whatever, then this was made clear. It could easily be done if for example when members fill in location (visible when posting) they put say ‘’Trade, Essex’’ or wherever they hail from. Failure to do so would result in a permanent forum ban"

Hi

I agree, and for that reason I have locked it.

Cheers

Dave

*Added* Thanks Dave last thing we need is this dragging up again. RJ.
