Can concur with your sentiments about working outside brrrr..... at least you have a roof on yours which is watertight! I have had Ratty (see photos) covered up with a tarp for the past few months..... I know, not the sort of thing that you should do with a wooden van, but as the roof was leaking it was a devil and the deep blue sea job. As long as there is enough ventilation getting through everything should be okay. Personally I used several large plastic bread crates on the roof and under the tarp. This has meant that there is enough air getting through and no signs of mildew or rot coming through. Not an ideal solution, but working well at the moment.

Hope you and your father come up with some sort of plan..... dads are great aren't they Very Happy

hehe that sounds like fun. But yes, I think my roof is ok, no signs of it leaking anyway.

To be honest, apart from the discoloured panels, i cant really see ANY evidence of it leaking anywhere. I might be wrong, but i still feel a bit miffed at the £6k bill.

Anyway my dad is hardly ever here being a lorry driver, but with his time off at christmas, hes going to move the shed so ive got room to keep the caravan.

Also ive just sent the email to the carlight owners club, so i'll await a reply on that too.

I haven't forgotten my "schedule of works" I promised you, but have been a bit busy in the last few weeks.

I now have some spare time so will get working on it to give you the inspiration to get stuck in!

6k to do that work, I've rebuilt Jags for less some ones having a laugh. As the others have said let it air and think on it but for gods sake get any idea about scraping it out of your head even if you come to the decision that you cant do it there must be many people out there that would love a challange like this. The more i think about it, the more i think nothing is going to get done to this van. I nor my family dont have the skills or know how to do the things that need doing, and i obviously cant afford £6k for someone else to do the work.

Im going to hold off putting it on ebay till after christmas, but if anyone on here fancies it as a project, i'll take £250 for it.

Id rather see it go to someone that can give it the time it deserves Smile

Glad you have decided not to sell just yet. I know it seems a rreeeaaallly big job, and it may turn out to be so, but if you have got offers of help, well take them up on it Smile

I think the biggest problem with any resto work at the moment (apart from the lack of confidence and ability Crying or Very sad

) is the time of year. Any enthusiasm you may have is quickly curbed as soon as you step out of doors by the wet/cold weather we are all suffering. I would suspect that if we all had nice warm cosy barns, with power and lighting things would be a little different. I know it would be for me Wink

Anyway good luck again, and if you or your mates come up with any useful information, please share it with us..... we all need help Shocked
