| Perm-a-Grip was the product Wayne V Myers invented and sold prior to RedeX coming on the market; the Perm-a-Grip tin dates from about 1930 to 1933 (I think), Redex was patented in 1932. |

Metal Box Company used to be the big boy in the tins and cans world.

MVPeters,
Thank you for your 'post';please explain to this layman what an MSDS sheet is......
Re the RedeX web site....I have been there.....many, many times...
I have also emailed them......many, many times to access their archive....to no avail!
The only 'fact' that the (short) RedeX history has given me is that the RAF (might have) used RedeX in WW2. This,I shall investigate via the Shuttleworth Trust. |

I live in the US!
MSDS is a Material Safety Data Sheet. I believe it's legally required for any product in a commercial setting. It should contain what the product consists of & how to deal with emergencies & some other stuff. I presume something similar exists in the UK.
I'm no chemist, but Redex seems to be mostly benzene - isn't that kerosene or diesel fuel or a derivative?
You'll get a better link if you search for <<<MSDS>>>
Over here we have Marvel Mystery Oil - red, smelly, don't drink it but it cures what ails you.
Don't get me wrong - I always used Redex in my early motoring days. Glad to see it's still around.
Edit: the search should be for msds redex _________________ Mike - MVPeters at comcast.net

Good afternoon to you from a cold Suffolk....
Thank you for the MSDS info. I shall look into that.
If you have been following the 'posts' re RedeX oil additive, there was a semi
technical analysis (?)of the RedeX compound; no reference was made to benzene, however, someone mentioned somewhere, the words 'snake oil'......
Whatever does that phrase mean.....?
What were your early motoring days?

My understanding of 'snake oil' is a product that promises more than it delivers - I don't put Redex in that category.
I think 'snake oil' was sold in the late 1800's & typically a bottle of some fairly innocuous liquid, possibly with a high alcohol or cocaine content, & advertised to cure everything from balding to fainting spells to flat feet.
My first 3 cars were all pre-war II & I'm pretty confident that Redex was beneficial. _________________ Mike - MVPeters at comcast.net

Peterwpg,
I will not say a word about the Eassst SSSSuffolk (so) ssssslow ssssnake worm. It is so slow, it makes watching paint dry exciting.....!
However, an application of the well discussed snake oil might accelerate its progress...
Sorry, but I had to bring the subject back to RedeX....somehow.....!

The success of OCC has to be the wondrous diversity of topics and members plus a tolerance of opinions not often seen in Forums.

Good afternoon to you all and a belated happy and healthy New Year!
I'm now writing Part 2 of the RedeX Saga and I'm looking for a decent photo of the Lubrocharger (not the gauge part). The bit I'm looking for is the bit that sat under the bonnet and was actuated by depressing a chrome button on the dash.
Someone out there must have a picture......

Mmm google images brought up loads (I had to remind myself what the lubrocharger looked like), I'm sure I don't have one but I'll have a look.
