A mate went to Hampton Heath yesterday and reported that it was very busy indeed.

Yes quite busy (no queues to get in this time though), mainly moderns but there were some interesting oldies dotted about so it was worth a pootle over. It didn't seem to be quite as busy as last year.

I've been at the Peacock Railway today, a pretty good turnout considering the weather forecast. We made it until 3pm with just the odd shower, then the sky went very dark and some heavy rain arrived, and a lot of people left. I gave it another ten minutes for the rain to back off then left myself. Plenty of people about, though, so hopefully it was a success for the railway.

I was in Sainsbury's just down the road from there around 3.30pm (on an emergency mission; I'd run out of beer!) and can confirm it was a tad rainy! Lots of minor localised flooding across the roads driving home. We had another downpour around 6.30 tonight with thunder and lightning, which I'm glad about as it saved me having to water the garden! Glad the Peacock show wasn't a washout. Perhaps see you on Sunday at Cholmondeley if the weather plays ball?

This weekend I'll be at Oulton Park Gold Cup Fri-Sun. I sometimes wonder if I'll get away with going to Cholmondeley for an hour or two then going on to Oulton as nothing happens before mid-day, but I'm not sure if there's a requirement to be in place before a certain time. Certainly if the weather is poor I'll just go straight to Oulton. Then I have Llangollen sixties weekened on the 2nd/3rd, presuming the pass arrives.

There's a gathering at Sleap Airfield on August 24th, entry is 10 pounds per car, or 15 pounds per club if you go as a proper club.

The Royal Oak at Worleston has a gathering on Sunday August 3rd.

I believe it's back to the third Sunday in the month, which will make it August 17th, the same weekend as Tatton Park.

The "Off The Rails" gathering that used to be at Crewe Heritage Centre is on at Apedale Heritage Centre, this coming Sunday 10th August. Astle Park Steam Fair is also on 9th and 10th.

Tern Hill Hall evening meet is this Thursday, 14th Aug.

The Combermere morning meet is this coming Sunday, 17th. There's also a large Jaguar gathering at Woodford on Sunday. Tatton is this weekend also.

Anything on this week or weekend 20th to 24th? I cleaned the car today and the forecast remains dry this week, so thought I'd ask! Bank Holiday weekend probably depends on what Storm Errant or whatever it's called decides to do!

Bank holiday Monday is the meeting at Apedale Valley Railway, I think they like you to book in for this one as it's a full day event rather than the OtR Sunday morning meetings that happen every month.

I believe Capesthorne Hall is on this weekend too, again I'm not sure whether you need to book in or whether you can still turn up and pay on the gate to exhibit. I've done that one a couple of times as a punter, but find it very similar to Cholmondeley Castle, which I'm booked in for, but smaller.

ETA there's a thing on at the Farmer's Arms, Ravensmoor on Saturday 23rd which has a car and bike display.

Thanks Mike, nothing really appeals to me there, so I'll have to wait and see what the bank holiday weather brings, if it's dry I might make it as far as the Cholmondeley Arms on the Sunday. Laughing

Keep in mind that the Cholmondeley Arms meet isn't the bank holiday weekend, it's Sunday 31st.
