The show season is fast approaching, and as some of you know I organize the classic / period caravan sections at a few shows around the East Midlands, and I would like some feed back on displays. As many of you have already seen at the Belvoir Castle show (last yeaars photo's are elsewhere on this forum) we already have a mixture of caravans and campervans. with a cut off point of 1976 for caravans and 1984 for camper vans, Do you think this is right, and also how do you feel about adding vintage tents? after all they would have been seen on a camping site as well. should I allow them , or mabey allow them only if displayed with an apropriate car or a old tandem with panniar bags? please let me know how your opinion lies on this, as well as any other ideas you may have. Also I do have some spaces available for the Belvoir castle show if you would like to come along and display with us. send me a p/m. Have a cut off at 1970,because that is my most modern caravan........only joking.
We take a collection of canvas bell tents and ridge tents made between 1930`s and early 1960`s along with all the equipment used at the time,to various shows throughout the season.
We take along a display of period bygones as well.
We display these alongside vintage or classic caravans complimented with period vehicles.
The public love it.
Regards

Do you have any pictures of your setup on display that you could post for the forum Gresham ?
sounds brilliant. would really like to see that with the Bell tents and the like. I think you have already seen my Stirling caravan, pedal cars and breakdown lorry etc. Nich _________________ Nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing!! |

Why not a cut off of "a model of caravan made in 1976".
I have a vested interest as the same shape Safari was made until 1981, but on your rules well over half of the surviving Safaris would not make the cut-off.
Are you going to do another Stapleford Park? A lot of my Safari owners were upset that they didn't make the event in 2010, and I need a National event for my owners group! _________________ Brian

Brian, if you still have my phone number give me a ring as regards Stapleford, as for Belvoir castle, what we say as a rough rule is " if that make and model caravan would have been seen on a caravan site in the summer of '76 it is eligible to come to Belvoir* so yes in theory we can go to 1981.
