I called on a couple of friends to help lower the body back onto the chassis.
What is nice about this type of restoration is that you can build the engine, gearbox, braking system, fuel tank and lines etc onto the chassis, try it all out before you progress any further.
A five speed gearbox from a later Jaguar was fitted.
Those tripple carbs will keep the chancellor in pocket and me skint.!!!
Still a lot of work to do but.......we have climbed that mountain with this restoration.

Great job GF, I hope you changed some of that copper pipe for flexible hoses on the front brakes. Look forward to seeing its progress. |

They look a differant colour at the wheels to the rest of the pipes so they look like they could possible be steel braided flexi pipes _________________ If the world didn't suck we'd all fall off |

Well spotted standardsteve, I think your right. I always imagined that steel braided flexi's would be thicker than that. You learn something new every day. |

That`s it have a go at me.
I will now go and curl up in a corner.
The copper pipes were fitted so that I could test the slave cylinders, and operate the clutch,I have made up a test hydraulic system so you can check brake callipers, slave cylinders and master cylinders on your workbench before fitting to your vehicle. So there
The twin carbs were fitted just to run and test the engine while I rebuilt the triple carb set up.,they are now back on a 3.4 ltr engine I have rebuilt for a Coombes MK2 I found in a barn about 15 years ago on a farm in Norfolk whilst looking and purchasing for some car spares from an old boy.
That has undergone a full body restoration, rebuilt 420 front suspension setup.limited slip rear diff,5 speed box etc.
I will have to post some photo`s if interested.
A lot of mechanical improvements have been made to the XK 150 engine, gearbox, ancillaries etc during the restoration to improve what was designed nearly 60 years ago.
Now the body is back on after a major rebuild (better than new) I can finish off all the ancillary improvements along the way.
For instance a new pedal box set up and servo brake unit ,to improve on the old design etc.
I had better get out of the naughty boy corner now and get some work done.
