The number of surviving Atlases must be in single figures now. I'd love one, I think this one might be a bit too much of a project though
The body panels don't look any rustier than Rick's Dodge was! |

(years ago I went with a friend to check out an Atlas, had to clamber through one or two garages to get to it by torchlight. Must see if I have any photos somewhere) _________________ Rick - Admin

Not only do I recognise it but in about 1987 I tried to buy it! My son had a Standard Pennant and we thought this might make a matching project, and my daughter had a VW so the possibility of a number plate swap also appealed.
I think it had already stood for 10 years or so, and the owner was a bit abrupt with my approach so we decided to let it pass. Like Rich, I have watched it get worse very year and I certainly thought it had gone for scrap when it dissapeared. _________________ Brian

I'd take it on, looks like 'A' posts and front floors will be shot but not as bad as my 400e otherwise |

Go for it! I doubt the auction will reach its scrap value. |

Ahhh! Poor thing!
I've had two Atlas vans over the years - they are quirky, to say the least, but I loved them, and went all over the country in them. The original spec used the 948cc Standard 10 engine, which was, err, adequate, but my second van had a Herald 1200 engine in it, and that really made it quite practical.
If the steering box has fallen off, it sounds as if the chassis has probably had it, in which case I cannot really see this one returning to the land of the living... |

Sold for £121! Did anyone on here get it?
I wonder if the new owner plans to restore it, or just crush it...
This is a piece of Westcliff history here
