Now here's a good one.
Imperial or metric pipe bender?
I thought a bend was a bend and you bent it to fit Smile

Imperilal or metric Flare, OK might be but won't it adjust to the final fit in the nipple.

OK lets be serious
A question has been asked on YNW.

A gentleman has a 1955 MK1 Ford Consul that needs re piping and the questions are.
1 What size Nipples, I would have thought 1955 ford? Imperial.
2 What size pipe, could measure that to see.
3 what size pipe for the clutch, did the Consul have a different size pipe and nipples for the clutch.
4 What size flaring tool Imperial or Metric ??
5 What size Bending tool, Imperial or Metric.

Being a 55 Ford it should be all imperial, as to the pipe bender, if the pipe doesnt fit snugly I guess there is a chance it will kink.

Thanks Michael I'll pass it on.

I found the new brake pipe tubing mailable enough to do the bends with my thumbs with no kinks.

And my thumbs are imperial, English from birth hahaha

I bent by hand when i did the brake on a scimitar but did find a socket useful in one place - but when using 5/16 for the fuel line i found a bender worthwhile. I was using kunifer [i wouldn't use copper; work hardens and too soft].

Always used my hands when bending up the pipes in the trade, done a nice loop the loop on a pipe near the back axle of a car once when I made the pipe a bit to long, but can never rember using a pipe bender.

Kunifer work/age hardens too. Be careful trying to re-use old pipe which may look good (not a good idea anyway) or if it has been on the shelf a long time.
I do believe it can be annealed to make it more malleable.
Nor have I ever used a pipe bender!
Jim.
