Think it was red, last known in north norfolk area.

I know the previous owner and he was interested in finding out if it was still around

The reg is not listed at the DVLA

just ran a DVLA and RAC check on the number and both came up blank so unless it was taken off the road before the systems was updated then it looks like it might have been scrapped

Or lost its number at some point, only for the number (no longer on the MG) to have disappeared, perhaps by someone not renewing the annual (?) retention fee. So the car could still be around, but re-registered. Would a DVLA form enquiry - written - regarding the original number bring back some info I wonder????

I swear that car belonged to some friends of my wife back in the 1970s. The colour was red and the lettering of the plate so unusual it stuck in my mind. they lived up north though, not in Norfolk.
